Shaft adapted the seres for broadcast in 2009, following up with Nisemonogatari in 2012, and the series has sold over 1 milliion DVD's and Blu Rays worldwide.

We're very happy to tell you that MVM have acquired the rights to both series and will be looking to release on DVD and Blu Ray around September 2013.

Does anyone know anything about the subtitles on the existing Optimum DVD or the coming Blu-Ray of Kiki?
Are they the same subs used on the Disney release? (Which are always claimed to be the script from the Streamline dub — a claim I've never had the opportunity to verify, though it's perfectly believable...)

I have the Optimum Kiki dvd, but I don't know if the subtitles are the same for the Disney one. Can't really find anything on the dvd about which particular company handled the translation.

I think I have the Disney one - somewhere. Don't think I've ever actually watched it (IIRC last time I saw the film was at a free cinema showing - from what was clearly the US DVD)
The UK Disney Ghibli DVDs tended to be dubtitled anyway though..

What? holy crap. I'm getting a little annoyed that NA is currently being left in the dust! I'd kill for Perfect Blue on blu-ray! and Cowboy Bebop! It's like I'm living some anime related nightmare.
