Still, I find no difference between solid-state and Sata drives myself.
So is this SDD hooked up to a blazing fast Ultra IDE-133, or something or modest like a 66 Mb/s? Do you have a disc drive on the same ribbon cable, or do you use the other one?

More seriously, I think you mean "HDD" when you say "SATA". They're fine enough for me when I play games(granted I don't play multiplayer); I only got my SDD because I decided to double my RAM and didn't want to double the time it took to hibernate. Which is really about what they're good for: if you're going to be making long, sustained reads or frequent, random reads to different files. Otherwise, the disk cache will generally take care of you.

@Multimonitors:
I use a two-monitor setup at work since I have to keep a window more-or-less fullscreen to use the program and have to keep another visible at all times(otherwise, the second monitor mostly goes to waste beyond being filled with copy & pastable stock responses). At home, I take advantage of the virtual desktop feature that's universal amongst Linux(technically, X11) window managers to organize my windows into six groups and flit between them at will.

I'm not saying it needs a 3 1/2 floppy drive but it should at least have a CD/DVD drive so that you can play music while you work.

These days, most people would probably be streaming music from a service like Spotify. Even in past years, many would have been playing from digital files stored on their hard drive.

Don't know about that. Seems to me more people use songs stored on Ipods, Ipads/Tablets, and smart phones to play music, than streaming music services. Don't know anyone that uses Spotify. The streaming music users that I know, use Pandora.

Spotify is much much more popular in Europe than it is in the US. Pandora is non existent here but most young people use Spotify and so do quite a few older people.
