The story about Space Brothers being one cour was a misunderstanding. That's when the results of a present campaign will be announced.

Well, I know I'm looking forward to Natsuyuki Rendezvous and Moyashimon Returns. Of course, I still need to see the first season of Moyashimon - I'll just bump it up on my list to watch ASAP. I imagine I'll like it, because I've read some of the manga and enjoyed that.

Otherwise, I have a mild interest in Tari Tari. For what sounds like a slice-of-life show about cute girls doing cute things it seems like something I could enjoy - the character designs aren't bad, and people bonding over music tickles my romantic funny bone. Then again, K-On never interested me, but I'm picking up different moods between the two series. K-On always struck me as something more happy-go-lucky, girls getting caught up in shenanigans. With the way the summary is written for Tari Tari, the series seems more whimsical with people enjoying their last days of high school before "growing up" and heading for different pastures. I can appreciate that sort of mood.

La storia della Arcana Familia sounds mildly interesting as well, but I'm not racing to watch it. I'm curious what Chouyaku Hyakunin Isshu: Uta Koi is going to be like. Is it going to be composed of short clips that just illustrate the poems?

Oh man, the Madhouse Ookami Kodomo movie... I'm definitely looking forward to that!

And dodgamnit Naruto, for creating a movie whose premise actually catches my attention! An AU setting that seems straight out of a fanfic where everybody's personalities are flipped on their heads? Sonuva... I haven't been interested in the franchise for years, but I may have to check out Road to Ninja for the shits and giggles.

I am looking forward to seeing what they do with Code Geass, and Hyouka is turning out to be one of the best series of any genre in a long time for me, very well done. Fairy Tail movie will be great to see, as that series is maturing and developing to be a long lasting classic I believe of remarkable quality. Ano Natsu de Matteru earlier this year was EXCELLENT in so many ways except of a rather predictable cope out with the ending but i suspect and hope that there will be a season 2 so i will wait for that sort of thing. Most of the series pictures on the preview chart are pretty limited in what they offer i fear...but i am reassured as there continue to be excellent series coming from the world of Anime. So i can be patient.

I was hoping for a continuation of Nyan Koi and i do hope that HighSchool DxD gets more...as do i hope for more HOTD.... but we will see.

Oh, look, another boring season for anime. What a suprise in this day and age of pandering to fanservice over plots and stories.

Added a series index to the first post...

I'll probably talk more about the season's shows once the first Stream article is posted but I might as well support my season thread one last time with a rundown of what new shows I'm following so far. I decided to be much more discerning this season so it's not a huge list at all, although it's bigger than I had initially planned, especially as there isn't a true stand-out yet.

Probably will continue for the entire season:

Kokoro Connect |
Why?: It's not terrific so far but it seems to be a solid story with some good characters that I think I can enjoy. Could be an interesting take on the body switch premise.

Moyashimon Returns
Why?: Because I loved the first season so much. Unfortunately very little has gone on in the first three episodes and the newly simplified and big-eyed character designs are still quite distracting. Here's hoping things pick up soon.

Natsuyuki Rendezvous
Why?: Because it's a Noitamina romance with adults. Nice premise and a cute female lead, but despite going straight to the confession and speaking frankly of adult reasoning of sexual and romantic relationships it still seems to be moving a bit slow.

Yuruyuri♪♪ (TV)
Why?: I enjoyed the first season well enough, especially when it got weird. It's more of the same in that way. There's better comedy in existence but it's still funny.

Chitose Get You!!
Why?: Because it's on CR and only 3 minutes. I wouldn't bother otherwise

Danger of being dropped:

Joshiraku
Why?: It has more Japanese specific culture and language jokes than any show I've attempted to watch so far (overtaking Setokai Yakuindono) and I miss half of the punchlines but when I do get the jokes I really appreciate them. I also appreciate the slightly subversive satire of the premise. Cute teen girls participating in one of the most un-moe activities you can imagine and at least a couple of the girls play against the expected type occasionally.

Tari Tari
Why?: Actually I still haven't gotten around to watching the third episode. The first two gave me a "so what" kind of reaction. If it weren't on CR I probably wouldn't bother searching it out.

Utakoi
Why?: Another I'm bothering with because it's on CR. Some decent romances, but they feel a little sterile to me.

May marathon other shows of the season according to fan reaction

Notable miss: Humanity Has Declined (Jinrui wa Suita Shimashita), I watched the first two episodes and though I appreciate what it is attempting, personally I find the humor doesn't hit. I think I'm too aware of what its trying to do so it misses the surprise factor. Like a second rate movie spoof I watch it and think "okay, a joke comes NOW" and I'm right, and I can do little more than chuckle.

Okay, we're a few weeks into Fall, but I'm not sure a place was ever dedicated to this. I thought final season opinions would show up in the last Stream talkback but I ended up mostly skipping that thread last season, as it had mostly become a second Sword Art Online thread.

There weren't any really big stand outs this season for me, although there are a couple I still need to catch up on. And it's also true my plan to watch less this season went well. I was watching the least shows this season than I had in years.

Roughly favorites to least faves of shows that finished this season:

Very Good

Kokoro Connect: Okay, so it isn't technically finished, but its TV run is. As presented this was a very good show. It had rather novel approaches to "persona altering" sci-fi and mixed it so nicely with teen angst and coming of age. Sure, it got a bit melodramatic, but it was effective stuff. Unfortunately the last episode aired was a weaker one and we're left waiting for months for a continuation or real finale to the series. But what was shown, was good anime watching and it was the show I looked forward to watching the most this season.

Sket Dance: I'm standing by my theory that this show will return when Gintama goes on its next break, creating a nice symbiotic trade-off system that lets both shows catch up to their source material and avoid having too much filler. As I've said in previous seasons, this show got so much better as it went on. Even after the all-important Birthday arc the show kept roling. Comedy melded better with relationship storylines, new characters and dynamics were introduced that didn't detract at all, it really hit its stride and kept running. Well, okay, I'm not a huge fan of the new student council members but they also left them a little under-developed by the end of this season. If and when it continues I think it will come back even stronger than before.

Moyashimon Returns: As a very vocal surporter of this series who rated the first season "excellent," this rating is indeed a downgrade, but I still quite enjoyed it. I never really warmed up to the revised character designs and thought it went a bit TOO heavy on the microbiology/ fermentation talk. I mean? Is there such a thing as a microbiology otaku? But taken as an entire season I realize that it really did tell a very good and complete "Haruka chapter" of the franchise and by the end you could see that the shows dedication to character development was not lacking in the least.

Hyouka: I was very close to dropping this, at least temporarily, at the end of last season, it really felt like it was missing something, like its benign mysteries were detracting from a focus that it really needed. But from the beginning of the school festival arc it became apparent a shift had taken place. There WAS now a new focus, the core characters were front and center, the mysteries were secondary and somehow that made them all the more interesting. And, of course, it looked great.

Good

Tari Tari: I had actually dropped it after the unsensational first couple episodes but I kept track of reactions to it in its thread and came back to it and I'm glad I did. It doesn't blow a person away but the show ended up being a very solid, feel-good, coming of age, high school friendship series.

Natsuyuki Rendezvous: It could have been better, but then they went and sent a character off to a meaningless wonderland. Still, it began well, and was resolved well, so I can definitely recommend it to a person looking for a different kind of anime romance series.

Decent
Yuruyuri♪♪: I almost rated this "good" but I just didn't think it was as good as its first season and I rated that "good"... so one rating lowere. It was still funny, it still had some really good moments, but I got trapped in that silly anime fanboy mode where I was wishing other shows that I felt didn't get proper appreciation would have come back instead. And there was just too much of the other mature brunette (purplenette?)/stupid blonde duo. At least it had less nose-bleeds though.

Accel World: I actually ended up dropping this, but I saw enough to say it was decent but I just wasn't in the mood, and probably won't be for some time. The second half just HAD to introduce the type of villain I just can't stand. Bah.

Have to finish sometime: Lagrange - The Flower of Rin-ne, Eureka 7: Astral Ocean

Continuing and enjoying: Space Brothers, Polar Bear Café, Folktales From Japan, Hunter x Hunter.
