Well I watched it, of course!!, and I liked the set-up and the way they did things. Unlike others, I like the one show per episode thing, I feel it will let the show run longer and put a little more depth into what show they're viewing. I do kind of think they should have it a half-hour, but they would have to have a little more people in the reviewers Love it or Hate it thing and maybe 2 Fanplay vids to make it that long.

Bosch needed to be in there a little more but because it IS all about the "viewers" intake from Bosch cuold've ruined that part of that. And the black dude was silenced quite a bit in that episode, RACISTS!!!!, haha. And the only thing about the review for Haruhi was the Animation rating, I mean that show REALLY did have amazing animation all around, it should've been at least in the 9's!!

But overall I can't wait for the next episode!!!

I hope it's Tsubasa, Fate/Stay Night or Eureka 7

Hey! Hi Roy. Anime hyper Smart of you to post here, now I'll probably remember your name instead of just saying "the black dude". ^^;;

I bet you must be really excited to be on the show!

No suggestions right now (besides what I said in my previous post). I really did enjoy the podcast!

I'm curious about one thing, though...do you know if any of your fellow hosts are shoujo fans? I love shounen, but I'm also the resident Princess Tutu fangirl so I'm curious if any of you guys share my passion for the show (I'm assuming you're not a shoujo fan and you're wondering what the heck Princess Tutu is right about now Laughing ).

Also, you probably don't have anything to do with this, but do you know when the Anime TV forums will be up? I'm looking forward to posting there. Anime smile

Well I am gonna be Candid here, as far as Magical Girls are Concerned I like Princess Tutu much more than Sally the Witch or Sailor Moon. As far as Shojo is concerned, as a strong blackman I have to say I have my soft spots. My personal favorite being Card Captor Sakura, CLAMP rules.

I especially love this seasson for having reason. Ahiru my girl because she is loud and a little obnoxious.

But god how can you not feel sorry for Rue? I mean how many Anime characters can you say are evil not because they are pre-ordained, but its like almost being a knee jerk reaction. Her Father is an evil one that thing. Some of it gets lost in the series, so I appreciate the Manga better.

Allthough if Rue was a real girl, and about five years older, I would date her in no time at all. I guess I have issues.

My question is at the end of the day, why the hell do we waste time on Mythos, god I dont like his character at all. Sure he gets kinda cool when he's all evil like, but hey thats just me.

I speak too much, Isaw Princess Tutu a couple years back and my memory of it is prolly too faded, I will go back and watch it again and be more detailed.

Anyway, yeah we have some Shoujo fans on the show. They know their stuff, and yeah Jonathan and the gang are not Racists, but they do beat me if I speak too much.

They don't feed me alot... and there was this time when they left me in the cage... God, I have to go back this week... someone Help Me...

But yeah, I hope that answered your Question.

Oh and for the forums, they should be going up soon. I am glad you liked the show. It is really exciting, sign up to review, share your thoughts and all that good stuff, and I will see you around.

Ooh! So you HAVE seen Princess Tutu! That's great!!

I love Duck/Ahiru, she's so much fun. Anime hyper I'm clumsy and loud, too, so I identify with her pretty well.

I know what you mean about Rue. She was my favorite character until spoiler[Fakir became a writer. I want to be a writer, so that made him go from 2nd favorite to first favorite in my mind.
Well, plus, I love Chris Patton.]
She's really one of the best 'villains" I've ever seen (if you could even call her one).

Considering that, if Fakir was a little older and real, I would date him, I would say you don't have issues. ...Or, well, we both have issues. One of the two.

I don't know if I exactly dislike Mytho, but he's definately my least favorite character of the main four. I still enjoy him, but he has a tendancy to be a little...well...out there. Understandably so, considering his heart is shattered, but things start getting really interesting when he's running around without any pants on.
He's really interesting when he goes into his "evil!" mode, though.

I'm glad there's some shoujo fans on the show (and you seem to be really knowledgable, too). It seems like they did a good job of picking a really good group of fans that really know their stuff and have a wide range of tastes. I'm looking forward for the forums opening up, too, it'd be nice to connect with other fans of the show. Anime smile

Thanks for your hard work on the show, it's obvious this is something you're enjoying and dedicated too. It looks like it's already fairly popular, I hope it gets a good following! Thanks for answering some of my questions, too.

The top five should be DB, Gundam, Sazae, Doraemon, and Eva. I think that anyway.

Well according to Bosch

Since the scores are judged by YOU, the viewer, If you don't like the rating or ranking of the anime, you only have yourself to blame.

The people in the opening clips look normal enough but the splash theme seems to be about kids on a sugar bender. Even before anybody has actually said anything I'm already thinking that this podcast is probably aimed at people half my age or younger. The funny camera angles during the opening dialog only add to the impression that this is more about being 'hip and artistic' than creating substantial substance.

The first dub clip was tough on my ears; I can't blame the podcast for that, but I would certainly be more at home watching the subbed version. The disjointed clapping at the end of the first clip provided an unexpected and probably unintended laugh. At first I was wondering if a second take would have been in order, but then it becomes obvious that we've been dropped into some sort of 'reality television' review segment where contributors of questionable authority are busy shouting over each other to make points that are only barely audible over all the other competing sound-bites.

After a few seconds the podcast cuts back to the host before we're dropped into a slightly calmer extension of the first review segment where each member of the focus group is given just enough breathing room to string a series of "like" equations into a nearly pointless verbal review. Questions about the "hairlo" effect seem to betray a surprising lack of familiarity with the subject matter among some of the crew. Also, it was at about this point that I realized how odd the ribbons looked on girls of this age. If they were younger then the silly accessory tie-ins and irrational enthusiasm would make more sense, but as it is the result looks a little bizarre.

Even Johnny the host appears a little confused and bored while the reviewer interplay grinds on. The clumsy and childish dialog is really starting to take its toll on my interest level at this point. To help keep us watching the host brings us...a commercial for rentanime.com. Oh, and the number one anime title is...Bleach? Before you can react to that horribly mismatched rating we're dropped back into the middle of the review segment again. Most of the review group still hasn't made much of an impression on me but the loud, obnoxious and interruption prone "Miley" is really starting to get on my nerves.

Although Nicholas' comment about this being America and as an American male he doesn't know what it's like to be a Japanese schoolgirl is amusing on the surface it also implies a lack of knowledge of and curiosity about other cultures. Not only is this a bit of a crude comment when you think about it, but it also seems to be a little out-of-place in a podcast apparently aimed at anime fans. The review session ends with a rating system that seems needlessly complex; what's the difference between 8.3 and 8.4 and will anything ever get rated 0.0 or 10.0 by the core team? Zero to four stars is plenty for nearly every other movie reviewer so why not these folks? If you still insist on showing partial averages then just combine a conventional star system with a bar graph like netflix does; that way inconsequential differences are easily ignored. The love/hate fan submitted review bites seemed completely pointless to me.

Here are my suggestions: Get rid of the ribbons, take the caffeine and sugar away, replace the hundreds of possible ratings with a single standard four star rating system, drop the pointless love/hate viewer review system and slow it all down so that the core reviewers can make their points without having to challenge the rest of the group to do so. Live groups are great for giving people a chance to reply to the views of the others, not to simply shout over them. But hey, I'm an adult; you're probably better off listening to the views of folks half my age if you want to keep your sponsors happy.

On the ratings--I think that the ratings are the averages of ratings given by a large group of fans--not the people sitting on the couch, but the people selected to be a reviewer from the forum on the website. Because of this, I like the larger review system because it's a wider range that reflects the large number of responses they're averaging together. I'd prefer "8.3" to "3.32 stars", for example.

Those are the same kind of ribbons used by Haruhi, the main character in the anime they spent the whole episode talking about. I'm guessing they did it so it would match the theme of the show?

Dude, thank you for your Input, and please don't write us off so quickly, after all it's only episode One.

Well the good news about the Ribbon is that its thematic for the show. We all thought it was funny, but it really is because of Haruhi.

Miley is awesome, there is no better way to say it. She is on the ball Nine Times out of Ten, and without her constantly on the move, well she is a great person.

I cannot change your opinion, but I can tell you we are Otaku from a very broad spectrum. From the Japanese Native Miley, to the Alaskan known as Nicholas. That is our goal and hope. To be diverse, you prolly will find us pointless, ridiculous even, but that is the point, that when we do give you something you digest it and you make your own opinion.

I have a belief that a few words are more effective than a volley of them (as you probably already saw) So I won't say more than I have to.

But please, don't give a final judgment on the Judges. We know our stuff and we fight, but we do it anyway.

We have a whole season ahead of us, thank you for your input.

And as for Bleach... well that one was a shock as well... that's life I suppose.

EVA FOR THE WIN!!!

Well when I saw the ribbons, I knew it was thematic but I just hope that you have something thematic for every episode. Wheter it's what you are wearing or a plush doll on the table, just do it every time. The Top-5 thing was just wierd. I mean was that an all-in-all top 5? Like with all anime put in, because that's just crazy. Anyway it is COOL!!!

Nobody miss the next episode.

Where exactly the ratings are coming from is perhaps unclear; I assumed it came from the core review team featured in the opening of the show. However, where it comes from doesn't actually have much bearing on my previous points. Would you treat an 8.3 result any differently from an 8.4? Is 83º F too cold for the beach but 84º F is just warm enough? These variations are too close to be significant in my view. I'm not looking for 3.32 stars, I'm looking for 3.

In other words, I want the potential variances to actually impact my decision. I can tell the difference between a two star movie and a three star movie, but I cannot tell the difference between an 8.3 movie and an 8.4 movie. Can you?

I didn't miss the connection, I merely questioned the relevance. Tie-ins was meant to refer to the connection as opposed to the ribbons themselves.

My comments weren't targeted at anyone in particular. I understand it's just the first episode and I wish you the best of luck with the next show. Take my comments at face value; I tend to be extremely harsh in my criticisms. That doesn't necessarily mean that I don't want you to succeed though. Anime is a medium I still hold dear to my heart, but I also think that most of it is downright terrible. It's the handful of gems in the rough that keep me coming back for more. Likewise, if I previewed all the anime-related podcasts out there I'd probably have a similarly negative view for most of them; it's nothing personal.
