Overall, it's good that something like Slayers will be allowed to stick around a little longer so all the old fogies as well as those who happen to like mid-90's anime *raises hand* will be able to buy and enjoy it without having to resort to the "f" word.
Amen ta da brudda! Amen ta da! One has to wonder what else is sitting in a box on their dusty selves just waiting to be free again. Wink

Well, personally this is great news for me. My entire Slayers DVD collection was stolen about three years ago, along with all of my other anime. This will allow me to re-purchase the series and recieve a better product than the one that I got three years ago.

Nope, the plan is to use the same CPM dub, but redub some parts using the same actors, though there is a chance a character or two will be redubed with a new actor.

Remember, guys, not everyone bought it the first time around.

Yup. I've been a fan of Slayers for YEARS, but haven't gotten around to buying the DVDs yet. Now I'm glad I haven't. I'll gladly buy a nicer release from Funimation someday. Anime smile

Not to mention, maybe it'll get better exposure now. It's one of those great series that's kinda been forgotten in the new age of Naruto and Full Metal Alchemist. Anime cry

No, but her credibility may be down the tubes. She works for 4Kids. Wink *rimshot*

I like FUNimation's attempt to preserve continuity. It's a good thing.

I'm sure she could get round that as most are freelancers anyway.

Yes, If one forgets what one's lessons have taught, one has to learn them all over again. Wink

well...now that's something I've been contemplating buying the boxsets eversense the price premintaly droped to 50 bucks a season, now a chance for a cleaner look and remastered dub for the same price I say it's gonna be worth the wait.

I'd rather see Funimation re-dub Slayers themselves Sad

But a remaster is fine...similiar to Media Blaster's release of Iria last year.

"Integrity of the popularity" huh? In other words, they want to milk it for all it's worth.

While I don't have any feelings towards Slayers one way or the other, I think this is sort of good news. Whereas one company usually monopolizes a certain anime, it's nice to compare how different companies handle the same work (and it gives the buyer more variety). This doesn't just apply to anime, but also to other DVDs, books, and the like. When I'm at the bookstore, I get a kick out of choosing which publisher's edition to buy. Yes, my life is that boring.

Oh, and I love seeing different translations of the same thing! It's so exciting to compare different versions of the Aeneid line by line. And the alternative subtitles on Criterion's release of Throne of Blood are just bangin'. Okay, I'm done being a dork...
