Man, Jiji's gonna have to grow on me. By far my least favorite part of the show to date; I like that he's got his own eccentricities, but good lord, he's just grating to listen to and watch.

I love Jiji already, he's playing a similar role to Aira but in his own way, and he's just really funny. I absolutely loved the episode all around, I'm glad they reused that amazing Kensuke Ushio classical remix and the silly love story between the two dummies was both funny in itself and at the end it very naturally connected to the more serious emotional beats of the main romance.

Would you rather I compare him to Jason from Fairy Tail. That I could have done as well. Anyway so is this going to be a 12 or 13 episode cout? I really think the next episode or two is not the end of season 1, but the end of season 1 part 1, this adaptation is very slow, we are still on world building and building the main cast. Kind of feels a weird time to end the season. I would expect a more climatic event to end the season. |

There is a rumor of this being a split-cour which makes sense since DDD isn't kind of work you would give only 12-13 episodes. Pacing has perfectly fine IMO and if anything I'm often hearing from anime-onlys that show can very relentless at times. DDD is more character driven than plot-driven so the journey itself matters more than its destination. |

They're currently going into Volume 5 of the source manga; I could see them maybe finishing most of Volume 6 before a spoiler[much longer] arc begins.
I think Jiji's dub VA is the first one that I'm not 100% onboard with(but that might be how what he's saying is being translated?). |

As long as they manage to get along I don't mind Jiji. It's like if the writer is balancing the cast as Okarun and Jiji feel like the yin and yang. If Okarun keeps developing, the entire cast might have more chemistry.

Wasn't expecting that out of Jiji...
Overall, an okay episode. I'm surprised Jiji had no comments about the walking talking laughing white cat walking around. Next episode looks ominous... Maybe we need the Jiji hijinks to balance out the more terrifying creepy stuff that's coming. Will this season end with Jiji getting aura powers too? I'm kinda hoping there's something different about him. Given that their aura selves tend to be the character's inner mood dialed up to 10, Ken being depressed and unenergetic, Aira thinking everyone is in love with her, either Jiji's is going to be even more highly annoying, or his attitude is masking some kind of major sensitivity or inner turmoil like Ken that we won't pick up on until it's revealed. I have some doubt that the anatomical model actually has the other golden ball. Or that there is going to be some other complication... like, can Ken's balls be separated into several pieces? How many episodes is this season? I doubt next week is the finale, feels like we're entering at least a 2-parter storyline (not counting this episode which technically makes this arc a 3-parter, like Aira's - 1.character's intro - 2.monster/conflict set-up - 3.resolution). So I'm guessing there's at least 13 episodes. |

If I were to pick one factor to indicate how assured the makers of this show are, it's Jiji. Think how incredibly lame and obnoxious (to the audience) he would be on most other shows. Here he slots right in and is immediately hilarious and likeable. This is one of those miracle productions, like The Princess Bride, where you are somehow balancing all these disparate tones and types of humor and layers of self-awareness and somehow make them all gel into this perfect whole. It's kind of breathtaking.

Wow, they're really going to leave off right there, huh? I probably would've preferred that they didn't begin this arc at all with only two episodes left, but oh well(the cliffhanger with Jiji arriving at their house would've been fine). I'm glad we got some time with him.

Man, that's not the final scene I wanted for this show's first run. Ending midway into spoiler[yet another attempted sexual assault] is certainly a choice..
Feeling a little more tolerant of Jiji, though; I'm glad his interactions this episode often had a layer of substance to them. A little deflated, but still looking forward to the show coming back mid 2025. |

That's quite the evil cliffhanger there, a mysterious unsettling room with something lurking inside, a group shifty green faced people shadowing the trio and Momo drowning for several months lol
I also think what makes Jiji work and what Okarun is discovering, is that he's genuinely a nice guy. Much of negatives about him are just Okarun's projections stemming from his inadequacies. Its something he's chiefly aware but can't help at moment since he has no idea how to deal with his jealously. Its all new to him. |
