Analysts aren't games media. They aren't in the business of making things up for clicks.
Their predictions are for investors in the market.
They analyze things such as orders for parts, loans, retail patterns etc. and make reasonable inferences as to what major companies are up to.
So maybe you want to invest in the companies that manufacture and supply Nintendo with lcd screens and chipsets as there is going to be a lot of demand for those components for a good several years, and maybe you'll consider investing in various video game related industries surrounding a hot product launch.
That predictions of a Switch Pro didn't turn out isn't a big deal. Likely Nintendo did consider something akin to DSi or 3DS XL, but settled for just OLED for a factor of reasons. But they've got to make potential part orders years in advance. Changes happen. Either because of supply issues, costs, or other market considerations.[/list]

I don't have any plans to buy any more non-OLED devices, so I guess I'll have some nice discounted games available by the time Nintendo finally releases an OLED version.
Though 8" is pretty big for a handheld. I guess not *that* much bigger than the original Switch (7" screen, after reducing the bezels in the OLED version) but that could have used some slimming down for pocket-ability.

I hope the switch 2 is more powerfull and have a double screen like the ds/3ds had. It would protect the screen when trying to dock it. And the advantage of a double screen it makes up partly for playing in handheld mode.

The Switch Lite isn't a hybrid, if they can go one way they can go the other.

Portability is the real reason the Switch sells as much as it does. Thye are not stupid to take it away.

Two screens aren't practical for also using on a TV, it'll only have one screen.

They were stupid enough to take out the ability to dock and transmit images to a tv with the Switch Lite. Mind you a feature that’s been available to almost every Nintendo handheld since the original Gameboy in some fashion. Even better both the Steam Deck and Rog Ally had or eventually came with this feature.

Am I the only one here who wants a smaller screen? I'd like a handheld to actually fit in my pocket.

My point remains intact, they took away the docked play, not the portability, and that isn't what sells the Switch. As a matter of fact, the Switch Lite has considerable sales (last I checked, 22M units in total early in 2022) despite what I would consider a major deal breaker of not having both (the major selling point of Switch was to be a hybrid, as per what the naming indicates).
Nonetheless, portability is everso more sought and always has been the reason behind Nintendo's biggest numbers with the exception of the Wii (casual play for all the family with a controller even your grandpa would intuitively know how to use in order to play Wii Sports with little Junior).
I repeat, they are not stupid enough to sacrifice portability, the dockless version only makes it a cheaper portable option that you can't play on TV. You can search on the internet for surveys that can show you that a big chunk of players use handheld more than TV mode, especially adults (who bring it with them to play on the train going for work, etc... quite a popular thing in Japan particularly).

I'd be down with that. Could allow faithful ports of DS and 3DS titles

I'm 37 now. My eyes ain't been what they once were for 20 years now. Hell, the OG Gameboy/GB Color is probably the cause of it lol

You don’t have to remind me. Trying to play a Gameboy Pocket/Gameboy Color with no backlight and having to deal with eye strain and dizziness as consequence is not a time I’m too nostalgic about.

I'll wait until there's an OLED / QLED option and then buy it.
