Maybe I am not hardcore enough anime viewing wise, but I find that most series do not get better when you are binging the whole thing at once. Some really good series are exceptions, but I find that it mostly depends on how the story is structured. One long adventure with good pacing can work for a binge. On the other hand. episodic series, especially episodes that are rather formulaic and kind of samey do not work well at all with binging.
As for Eminence, I strongly believe the series only works for those viewers that can appreciate how over the top and cringey it can be. |

I started Eminence when it first started airing and then dropped it after, I think, about 5 episodes. Then at some point, I picked it up again, finished the first season and watched three episodes of the second season before dropping it permanently. I can't even remember now what my beef was but generally when I drop something its because I realize... hey, I don't care how this story resolves or what happens to any of the characters. It is a little odd in that I've watched worse shows to completion but there can be an arbitrary element to dropping. It's not always super clear to me why my mind decides that Show A that isn't really grabbing me gets the hoof whereas Show B that isn't really grabbing me somehow limps to completion.
For myself, shows are generally "better" if watched in multiple episodes as opposed to week to week. A big part of that is purely memory based... it's way easier for me to remember things when I'm watching back to back to back as opposed to week to week, duh. Having said that, I generally find it easier to watch, say five episodes from five different shows in a single session as opposed to five episodes of the same title. If I can go five episodes of the same show it's a sign that I'm super digging it. |

It all depends. If I'm watching an extended fight scene that hasn't made any real progress in 2 episodes, I'll turn off the TV and wait for a few weeks then binge multiple episodes at a time. Or if it's a show that I'm rewatching because I loved it the first time, and finding stuff out or shock value isn't really part of the appeal, I'll go into couch land for awhile. |
