I'm yet another Do As Infinity fan. I also like just about anything involving Akino Arai.
I also like Chihiro Yonekura, and have been a fan of Two-Mix for quite some time. (They were the group that really got me into J-pop.) I've been liking what I've heard by Maaya Sakamoto, and the work Mikuni Shimokawa on Full Metal Panic. |

I'm going to break out from Ayu and Hikki ^^;
My favorite artist is Shiina Ringo! She is simply amazing, has unique vocals, and a wide range of talent. She sings a bunch of songs in English (very well too), and one or two in French and German. I think everyone should listen to her. (you can go here to get some of her music: http://food-nouveau.net/ringo/main.html) Then my other favorites are Yaida Hitomi, SPITZ, The Brilliant Green, Chihiro Onitsuka, and CHARA! |

I love Yoko Kanno, of course, but I also love the jazz musicians for the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack, The Seatbelts. Most good saxaphone players have to bite the reed to get that high note at the end of Tank! (opening song for Bebop) and even then they can't pull it off as well as that guy did.
Others include Akino Arai (her voice is soooo soft....) and Maaya Sakamoto (can be happy, yet also sad). Haven't listened to many others. |

hey yoshball, what's the last note at the end of tank....do you know by any chance..? i don't know what the sax can play up to. the highest note i can play on my flute is a...third octave Bb...altho i can't recall the fingerings right now. i can barely squeak that one out so let's change it to third octave a. my sisters gonna come in like "ah, she's ranting about her music again.." and then run like mad.
i want to get "hello" by hyde because it's in my head all week...and i see like ten seconds of it on tv...i've had no luck finding it. mebbe if we go to china town soon, i'll get lucky...and find the single. |

My favorite singers are Ayumi Hamasaki, BoA (the Korean one not the Lain one), Do as Infinity, Every Little Thing, Hitomi, Nanasa Aikawa, Hikaru Utada, T.M Revolution, and Megumi Hayashibara.
I like Nanase Aikawa the most because she was the first Japanese singer I heard and she sings good. |

As for that note, all the saxaphone players I had listen to it said they didn't know exactly what note it was but it was high and they themselves couldn't play it.

Yea I was looking for the last note of tank as well, it seems there is no sheet music for the seatbelts, because most of their solos are improv and no sheet music is availble for them. My blues/jazz band is working on this song hehe.

For amazing vocals, if you are not into the standard annoying overly hyper and disgustingly cute kind of music that is everywhere, try Hajime Chitose. She is, I believe, an Okinawan born singer with a BEAUTIFUL voice... She just put a new album out and as soon as I get 3000 yen to do with what I want, that`s first on my list.

Another great one along those lines is Chihiro Onitsuka, who I just discovered a few days ago. Her Insomnia CD is awesome, especially "Infection." |
