Why wait for E3.

According to the latest issue of Shonen Jump magazine, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, will be hitting stores in both America and Japan on September 14. The magazine announced that Advent Children will be released on DVD and made no mention of a PSP-friendly Universal Media Disk (UMD) format.

And here's the link.

OT RANT - well thought out, but just wanted to apologize ahead of time Smile

Final Fantasy 7 = most overrated RPG ever.

That's not quite fair... It was just the first FF game to have such a big buzz.
You need to remember, back then, video games in general weren't as mainstream as they are today. RPGs (at least on consoles) were one of the smallest slivers of that niche market. For many folks, FFVII was their first experience with Squaresoft, the Final Fantasy series, Console RPGs, or all of the above. Sure there were many great unknown RPG games that came before FFVII (FFVI (III US), Lunar, CronoTrigger), but FFVII was the first big cinematic RPG for the (then) next generation systems. Never before on a home console was there such a huge game with cd-quality music and 3D polygon graphics that told such an epic story. I'd also say it was one of the first PSX games that really showed what it can do. This made its marketing buzz that much bigger, as you've got the fanboys, Square AND Sony all tooting its horn.
In retrospect, FFVII may not have been the best FF game of all time (Tactics!), but it's significance can't be denied.

Over-hyped, maybe... but deffinately not over-rated.

Yeah, give that it came out close to 10 years ago and people still going nuts over the game, it does have that over hyped feel to it now. Heck, EGM (last month) said DK C was over hyped, which it is and isn't. Enter the Matrix, now that way over hyped (I got lucky, it never crushed on me.) FF 7 back then need the hype and it got, in the folds, but now days, I still feel like it didn't need the movie and FF: DC. But hey, I'll pay 20 to see Tifa again.

Wow, every time a new trailer comes out this movie looks more and more impressive. IGN has the newest one from E3 available for download. Looks like the action will be very fast paced and I'm sure the story will be equally as good.

Personally, I don't see how anyone could call FF7 overrated. I've met plenty of people whom I never suspected would have even heard of FF7 who not only played the game but were personally moved by it.

Any video game that has the ability to make grown men cry (the death of Aeris) is exceptional in my book!
