It is Bebop, pretty much. Same director, same episodic nature, and some really great out of place music (like Bebop had jazz in outer space, Champloo has hip-hop and R&B in Sengoku Jidai ).
I've seen about half of it, I'm sure you'll like it as it has a GREAT dub too (though Jin is my only complaint, but unless you've heard the show in Japanese, then you probaby won't care).

Most of those anime sound good. I'm a bit put off by s-CRY-ed though. I bought the artbox and the first four volumes, hoping that it would live up to the manga. I was sorely disapointed, especially with the dub and overall plot, so I never bothered finishing it.
But who knows. Perhaps I'll end up liking it after watching the last eight episodes on AS.

Scryed is one of the most underappreciated anime out there IMO. It's good to see it finally going on AS where it will get some more recognition. The dub is a bit below average, but it's not unwatchable. I just hope they keep all the openings intact since they seem to be including openings in newer AS shows-Scryed has one of my favorite theme songs ever.
And I have to disagree about the manga-I don't think the manga can hold a candle to the anime. Apart from the hideous artwork, some of the dialouge in the manga is just ridiculous. "Your staff can only be one size. But my balls...CAN BE ENORMOUS!"
He's talking about balls of energy he uses to fight with. What were you thinking?

s-CRY-ed???
Coudn't AS gotten something better? I mean s-CRY-ed isn't bad but it's not what I would call good series either. AS should pick up a better series like X TV series.

Oh. My. These next few months are going to be awesome!
I have been wanting to watch Escaflowne for awhile, but never gotten around to it. Seeing the movie is going to be great. I have been told by a friend to try s-CRY-ed. So this will give me a chance to see it. I'm so thrilled!
The InuYasha movies, Stand Alone Complex, Metropolis (haven't seen it, but heard about it), this is going to be great.

For those interested in the Escaflowne TV series, Fox still has rights to the series until... Fall 2005.

I remember reading in an interview with the guy in charge of Toonami's acquisitions (can't remember his name) that CN has no interest in picking up Escaflowne once Fox's contract expires simply because "there is no interest in older titles." A bit hypocritical, considering the cornerstones of the block are the more-than-a-decade-old Dragonball and Yu Yu Hakusho. Hopefully that sentiment will eventually change, because Escaflowne is a show that every anime fan needs to see.

... and Lupin III even before that .... *sigh*
Seeing as this week it's Episode 20 of FMA, the pivotal Episode 25 is scheduled to air on April 30. This would leave 1 week before Samurai Champloo takes over FMA's timeslot. I've never seen the fansubs of FMA, but I know from other discussions that #25 is extremely pivotal. It is also the last episode where Ready Steady Go is the correct OP... it changes to "Undo" beginning with #26.
I tend to agree that Funimation hasn't completed all of the English dub of FMA yet, so I guess it would make sense to stop at #25 for now. (It also makes sense as to why Funimation is dragging their feet on the R1 DVD releases. Some of us would like to make good AMVs from quality sources...)
Would Cartoon Network possibly be rebroadcasting episodes 1-25 after April 30 in a later timeslot? I kinda like that idea, to give the series more of a sense of a "1st Season" and "2nd Season."
I guess we'll find out soon enough.

And here I was thinking I was the only person on earth that thought X TV would make a wonderful addition to the Adult Swim lineup. Maybe one day.

Now you have to wonder how much they're going to edit Samurai Champloo. Just the first disc has enough blood, cussing, and needless killing to scare away an editing staff. I hope they leave it entirely unedited.

Watch an episode of "Ghost in the Shell: SAC" on Adult Swim. They've left in every single piece of violence there on that show. "Samurai Champloo" should be fine.

And after the episode "Jungle Cruise" aired pretty much untouched, I'd say violence isn't much of an issue anymore for Adult Swim. Heck, they could probably air Evangelion without much of a problem, though ADV wouldn't give them the rights, and there probably isn't a real demand to see it on TV.
I'd say that between Ghost in the Shell: SAC pushing the violence barrier and FLCL pushing the sexual content barrier, Adult Swim has almost reached a state of untouched purity. Now the only thing that is really edited is the "higher up" curse words (i.e. s*** and f***) and the brief nudity, though I'd expect at least the curse word barrier to be dropped soon, as shows like South Park already swear as freely as they like. All they have to do is raise the rating of a couple of shows from TV-14 to TV-MA...

By the end of this year, I bet CN will leave those words in. If Comedy Central can show uncut stuff at 1 AM Saturday, then so can Adult Swim.
I, for one, am excited to see Samurai Champloo in the lineup. Since hearing about it, I knew it would be cool. Samurai fighting and hip hop: it's the Wu Tang anime. I definetly believe that Shinichiro Wantanabe is the Quentin Tarantino of anime. He's the only person who can take an anime and an unlikely soundtrack and make it seem like it was the only way the premise would be cool.
