Hentai, religion, and popular culture. Oh my.
Haha, wow, I really need to look into more French films. Though for some reason I'm not too surprised that it was them to make a movie like that. Oh, and folks...
Two people have seen the movie. Neither remember any hentai in the movie. if it's really that unnoticable, then I don't think we have to worry about any promotion of the "stereotype" that "all anime is just Japanese cartoon porn."
Personally I wouldn't think that sex itself is a problem consider that it's a natural part of are life, for a lack of a better term, but rather certain elements, such as rape and lolicon, being advocated and displayed as pleasurable in hentai should be the cause for concern here. Pornography is pornography no matter what medium you're dealing with, but specific cases in it should really be considered of "What the hell is wrong here?" or something along those lines. Of course that's another argument to be fought over in another thirty-something thread since I really don't want to veer off-topic too badly.

Instead he personally proved to them that he wasn't a sinner just for interacting with them by telling the Pharisees that he came to save the lost and if they still didn't believe him then, he moved on to more important matters. If you don't like hentai, that's fine. That's your own personal opinion but just because you personally believe that you don't like hentai doesn't make it universally "wrong", especially since you're using a personal religious belief that you can't prove is true or not to prove why something is wrong yet not everyone shares the same beliefs as you. It's one thing if you personally think hentai is wrong because of your own beliefs. It's another to state that "OMG, hentai is wrong because my God says so!" My point is just because you think it's wrong doesn't make it wrong just like how just because I think it's ok doesn't mean it isn't. It just means I have a different opinion than you, but don't act like it's some proven fact that your belief that hentai is wrong is anymore correct than my belief that it's a-ok just because you believe in a deity. To put it simply, stop acting like your opinion is some fact and that hentai shouldn't be mentioned anywhere in public mainstream entertainment just because of your opinion. |

I was gonna say the same thing. I mean Daiakuji is a "better" one for them to choose, okay that's a lie, but it's not Bondage Game, Bondage 101, La Blue Girl(which I don't find to be all that bad.), Urotsukidoji, Dark Love, Crimson Climax and a crap load of other that are worse. |

Now I have been inactive for quite some time, because well frankily I forgot I was a member here since I used it when I was in Kuwait to make the days go by faster. Regardless I am back and this topic caught my intrest. First off I watched the movie the day it came out and I liked it. Granted if I would have been here and seen this thread I might have caught it, but I didn't notice it. Also I am very much into anime and I love seeing it in places and going "I know what that is." I like to sound smart and edumacated sometimes
Ok so anyway back to where this conversation about a movie ran off too. It went into the differences between Hentai and Anime in the public’s eye. If I am not mistaken, regardless this is what I am addressing at the moment. Most people only hear about Hentai because it’s controversial. Controversy is what sticks out to the people. Those who are uneducated to it and have not watched real anime will be against it by nature. It’s a shame that when I mention I am looking forward to going home to watch anime, everyone says "Japanese Porn?" That gets to me and I do what I can to try to convince them otherwise. I have had to enjoy the love of watching anime. One of the biggest issues I have with people in America is they hate or are incapable of reading subtitles. My roommate would only watch anime if it’s dubbed. For me I am incapable of watching most anime dubbed for me because I have no issue reading, very few times. I have no issue with dubbing and I am not calling out dubs. I just can not stand it that is my own opinion and that’s just what I believe. This takes me to the new argument that has arisen. BleuVII just said why he did not like Hentai. He was not trying to push his views or his judgment on those of us who do watch it. As far as I can see all he was doing was just talking about how he loves anime as a whole but does not enjoy the concept of Hentai. Which is fine and dandy because we all have our preference on what we want to watch and what we like. That was all he was doing was saying he prefers other type of anime over Hentai. There was no need for anyone to bring religion into the mix. But that’s ok but if you did want to bring it in that’s ok. Kouji, I can see your point as well. You are trying to say that no reason is not a reason to justify. You like to say I told you so is the worse thing ever. Growing up and being in the military I hear it too. You will do this because we will say so, and your lower ranking. Even if what I say is right and makes complete logical sense. No one can stand that type of logic, but that is not what he was trying to say from what I got. He was using his religion so we could have an idea on why he does believe what he does. He never mentioned how Hentai was bad; he just said he doesn't enjoy it. Ok I am done trying to be a peaceful negotiator....I am normally the one to poke and prod. Ok I am done. |

I'm watching Daiakuji right now and I've seen Smokin' Aces, I don't recall seeing this anime in it... is this something possibly only in the director's cut that wouldn't be shown on TV airings of the movie? Does anyone know around what time in the movie it is seen?
Daiakuji's a really great anime, it's got some interesting plot when you look past the hentai aspects, would love to see how it was incorporated. |

It'll probably just be in the movie for a few brief seconds as a side detail, like something a loafing security guard is watching on a small monitor as the protagonists sneak past, or some other Hollywood-ish scene.

I...on the other hand, try to encourage it. It's bloody hilarious to see people's reactions when they have this mindset.
I can't be the only one who takes a sick sense of delight at watching prudes overreact to cartoon. |
