So.... unlike Living For The Day After Tomorrow this is one of Sentai's "very obscure, yet still there" series that isn't a surprise?
Sometimes, and this was my thought about them last year, I think they release EVERYTHING at first bare-minimum, and.... THEN pull some stops. Hmmm... |

I'm interested in hearing from the haters of this show, since they vehemently don't like kimikiss. I want to hear all the "why"s that this isn't good.

It's interesting to note that Theron wrote about the "lack of originality" when he clearly made note of what is original about Kimikiss, that of it having two main characters with separate love interests instead of the simple harem.
And personally, I hate those frogs. Also, Theron. Name me another series of this type that has a kiss in the very first episode. And I don't mean an accidental kiss or whatnot, but an actual kiss. Because that is what hooked me onto this series. The fact that it doesn't spend as much time beating around the bush to get to actions, with Futami particularly. I do agree that Kimikiss is overall an average shounen romance show, but I will not agree that it lacks originality for the points listed above. |

I don't vehemently hate it; it didn't do anything to actively offend me, and I had minimal expectations going in. But as someone who watched it all the way through, I will say this: it was way too long. There's nowhere near enough story in this series to justify it being 24 episodes. It gets really boring over time and the final pairing for the main hero seems forced after the much more natural pairings that occurred elsewhere. It's bad in a truly generic way. You can see the writers and the director trying valiantly to make it more than it is, but in the end it's just not that good. I'd say just don't waste your time, not because it's awful but because there are much better series out there. |

Besides the uninspired premise, Kimikiss suffers from rushed planning (the cause of having too little content for too many episodes) and production. The team came directly off of Nodame Cantabile, and it's pretty obvious which show they prioritized.
Still, it might be worth a look for fans of the Kenichi Kasai/Shichiro Kobayashi/J.C.STAFF teamup. Their touch absolutely shines at time, particularly in how they handle setting and atmosphere. Also, the characters ooze charm and are well presented (unlike Amagami SS, IMO), despite the animation issues. |

Which is why I gave it a try in the first place and stuck with it. But yeah, they also did Honey & Clover, if you want to check out a project that's actually been licensed, and it's much better. The first season of Nodame Cantabile is fantastic, but that's only available via fansubs. |

honestly anyone that likes the genre will love this show and every else wont care. it's a love it or hate it. i enjoy the genre (especially when there's no harem) so i found this to be one of the of more underrated animes of the last few years.

What genre are we talking about here? Romances? Because there have been plenty of those I've liked, and I mostly liked the romantic elements in this; it's all the less-interesting padding to get it to 24 episodes that really drags it down. |

Actually, vash... I looked at your list. The only shounen romance anime I saw that had a rating of "decent" or better were Midori no Hibi and Toradora. And can you honestly tell me that Toradora didn't pad itself out to be 24/26 episodes? At least Kimikiss didn't go and completely drop what it was good at in order for there to be forced melodrama.
You also made a mistake in saying that Kimikiss was an eroge when, like this review states, it was all-ages/12+. Midori no Hibi was a solid shounen romance though, you just haven't hardly seen any others. |

Well I for one loved the show. So I guess it's love it or hate it like what Kougeru mentioned. But the review's conclusion of the first half being fluffy and "devoid of much substance" is completely misleading as everything in the first half strongly suggests that there is much more to drama to come. Would've been sorely disappointed if the series ended the same way it started actually. It was obvious to me that the first half was merely setting everything up for the second and that's what kept me watching. I also happen to agree with final the final pairings and found them most satisfying.
^ WRT to Toradora comparisons above; I also like Toradora although the two shows are different in many ways. However one significant difference to me is that KimiKiss actually ends. Like, really ends with the relationships settled and no more development whatsoever to come, where as Toradora ends in a cliffhanger, cutting off right at the start of a huge plot development .. because you're supposed to buy the light novels to find out the conclusion  (and from what others have said there are big twists later)
Of course, as I mentioned it all depends on how satisfied you are with how KimiKiss ends pairing wise, but at least plot/story/drama wise, there is closure nonetheless. |

That's why I asked what genre;. And yeah, I guess as a 20something woman I'm not a huge fan of romances for teenage boys. 
Midori no Hibi was marvelous, though, I should watch that again. I recommend watching it twice rather than bothering with this series. Oh, and on my ratings, I shuffle those around like once a month. I am terrible at making my mind up about grades, which is why I don't think I ever could be a professional reviewer.
As I said in my list,which you claim to have read, ToraDora should've ended earlier. The finale in particular was poorly dragged out. I liked enough of it up to that point to give it a higher rating though. Kimikiss got boring early on and stayed boring.
I said that because I didn't know when I wrote it. For starters, the group whose fansubs I watched routinely posted pictures they claimed were promo material from the game, with characters nearly naked etc. Perhaps those were fanart, I had no way of guessing. Even if I changed the term to plain dating simulator, that's basically an eroge without the sex; you still are in "pick which girl" mode, which might, I suppose, appeal to lonely teenage boys who wish they were in the situation (see: reverse harem series for female versions), but for real romance, you need to look elsewhere. But like I said: it wasn't like it was horrible, I don't hate it. It's just not that good. You can do better. As you say, I tend to avoid romantic comedies/romances aimed at males ten years younger than me, but I am very sure there are many that aren't as generic as Kimikiss. Go watch those series instead. |

The Kimikiss anime series was a show you could let your family members see, all of them from the youngest to the oldest and it could be endearing to many. Simple rules of all good anime also require watching the full opening and full closing music credits as well with every show. No fast forwarding here! Thanks to the one Right people and the other Corner store, I own all the manga and tomorrow the Kimikiss dvd 1 arrives at my house, 2nd one will be ordered soon as they have it.
All I can say is the character voice actors from Japan did magnificent work putting the feelings of the characters into the shows. I do not know 1 thing about the Visual Novel or Game the show came from and that is not my interest. The two little sisters with their frogs going on at the same time the anime series Romeo x Juliet-o was priceless. My review gives it a A+ for Romance, a A+ for Music (Suara), B- for Graphics. |
