It's kinda funny considering Zac and Justin were just talking about Mangafox on ANNCast. Mangafox was horrible for just taking scans from PUBLISHED manga and then just uploading it to their site. Sure, I read Naruto online, but I also purchase a lot too. I think this is a step in the right direction. I'm sure people will complain, but if they really want to read one of those series, I'm sure there's at least a hundred other sites they could find it on.

well it looks like the scanlation manga crackdown has begun. So Mangafox is the first to go. I'm going to assume Onemanga is probably next.

Many people won't touch IRC with a 1000 foot pole. I have a friend whom I have told many times I could just show her how to use it and that isn't not that hard but she believes that she just won't understand it. So she just sends me off to get her things.

I don't think they will ever fully stop this sort of piracy, but for many people once you make it harder then loading a web page that is to much effort for them.

Interestingly enough Onemanga has a much higher Alexia ranking then Mangafox.

Most people are too lazy for that.

Manga Aggregator sites are bad for three reasons

#1: The owners of the site profit from the piracy

#2: It makes piracy overly convenient to the point even casual internet users can do it without any effort.

#3: They host scans of licensed manga

Grabbing scans of unlicensed series off of a scanlation groups IRC channel don't fit into any of those (with some exceptions to #3).

Most of the people I know IRL who read scans off of One Manga don't know how to use IRC and aren't very good at finding torrents, without manga aggregator sites their amount of scan reading would probably go down at least 80%-95%

I, admittedly, used MangaFox on a regular basis. But not anymore.

That site has been littered with viruses and trojan horses. Including the dreaded Anti-virus virus that takes over your entire computer.

I decided awhile ago that that was it. I don't need to read these titles that badly.

Fare thee well spoiler[My Balls].

Meh. I never cared for Mangafox or onemanga. Plus, I stopped caring about scanlations long ago. More because I don't have much time to read anymore. The only time I do read is before I go to sleep. I prefer holding a book/manga in my hands anyway. ^^; But I'm glad this is finally getting some attention.

My heart bleeds for these poor beleaguered sites that just attempt to spread the love of manga around the world from the goodness of their hearts.

Yeah, right. Who am I kidding?

Ahahaha

That series is the reason I was using MangaFox the one time I actually did.

And it's how I caught the "anti-virus virus". I'm not tech savvy enough to get rid of it, so I had to do a system restore back to factory default...

What're you talkin' about, bro? This is probably the 4th site in the past 2 weeks that's been cracked down on.

And it's only gonna get better from here on out. Cool
