well I Just got back from a trip to Europe. anyway heres a list of the Shows I saw uncut to boot lucky @*!&*%
Spent a day in germany and the following was playing on TV in the hotel Room. Name of the Station was ViVa was able to find there site http://www.viva.tv/anime.php heres what I watched theres a handfull more I didn't get a chance to watch. Hellsing X Tv Noir Najica The Hellsing German Dub is sweet. only thing they changed was the music for the op end. |

Maybe I'm wrong but I was under the impression that you had a lot more anime on tv than that in the US.

It isn't just Germany. I think that the US is one of the few countries to edit anime a lot. As I said in some other posts, CN Asia has always shown uncut anime and at blocks aimed at 8-15 year-olds like toonami. (For example, Ranma, Akazukin Chacha, Yu-gi-oh) I also read that in Britain, when they showed Nuku Nuku, the only thing they cut was one Masterbation scene. Anime is more popular in Europe and Asia, I think.

Anime is more popular in the US than in Britain. Also I think a lot of the stuff we get on TV here is taken straight from the American cut. I'm not sure about the rest of Europe. I know anime is fairly popular in France but not massively so. I don't think its any more popular in any other European countries than it is in the US.

well at least you guys got Battle Royale. well now so do I since I picked up a copy at the airport in london.
but I also noticed there was alot more Manga in Germany and Switzerland then in the US. |

Anime does seem far more popular in Europe then US. No question about that. When I lived in Germany 5 years ago I saw lots of very good anime on regular TV stations. Amazing! Right now VIVA (music TV station just like MTV) and even MTV are playing Anime(Even Golden Boy uncut
 ). I remember MTV 2 here in the US playing Heat Guy J but not anymore. Even G4TV (former Tech TV) moved "Anime Unleashed" to the last show before they run the commercials(2.AM). Only place I can watch anime on TV right now is "Action" Channel. They got uncut episodes every Tuesday.

Well i can clear you up on some things about anime in germany^^
In terms of DVD quality and quantity germany is quite far behind the US and france, however its catching up fast. The first serious anime shown on German tv (if you dont count in Akira or Ghost in the Shell) were Record of Lodoss War OVA, Blue Submarine No. 6, Bubblegum Crisis (classic) and later Neon Genesis Evangelion (that mustve been 1998/1999). They used to air on the tv station VOX, however at that time the shows weren't shown because they were already very popular, but because a DVD label bought the time slot to promote the shows, in a way. The time slot was late at night (1 am to about 5 am), however there wasnt much complaining about the time because the fans were happy to get *good* anime at all. Also, most of those animes were uncut and with japanese dub and german subs. Not much else followed in the past 2 years, then suddenly MTV began airing Golden Boy, City Hunter and Lupin 3rd at "Prime Time" (mostly uncut, everything with german dub). MTV's rival tv station "Viva" copied that and showed Candidate for Goddess, Angel Sanctuary. Also, the tv station RTL2 began airing DBZ from Monday to Friday at 7PM. It was a huge succes, and soon they began showing 2 episodes starting at 7PM. MTV then showed Cowboy Bebop (absolutely uncut afaik) and Escaflowne (uncut, but based on the french version which was slightly altered at some points). MTV2 began airing Inu Yasha on a daily basis, but soon MTV drew back from their anime plans and atm they just show like one Cowboy Bebop episode per week. However, VIVA is expanding their anime program with X, Najica, Aika, Noir, Arjuna and Hellsing. Hellsing and X's OP and ED were exchanged, however the shows itself are mostly unchanged. RTL2 continues to show yugioh, digimon, pokemon, detective conan (big success afaik), one piece and inu yasha. Currently there are rumors about a TV Station picking up Last Exile and RahXephon, probably VIVA. I hope that didn't bore you 
I dont know very much about the american fandom or "scene", but I can say that the fanbase in germany is still growing, along with the popularity of anime. The number of manga releases each month is very high, I think it might even outnumber the US' number of releases. Also, germany is housing the biggest convention in europe AFAIK, along with another convention which is smaller, but still pretty big (+ another 8-10 small cons each year). Also, there are numerous manga magazines released each month, theres even a cosplay mag IIRC. Oh and sometimes the tv station VOX will air some hentai during the night (explicit stuff isnt allowed on german tv, but soft-core is, so the hentais are cut down to looks like soft core porn )

Ich habe in Deutschland sieben Jahre lang gelebt in Baden-Wurternberg. In einer kleiner Stadt Gundelsheim. Da hatten wier schon anime in 1996-1998. Gute Zeiten. Ich habe kein Deuitsch geschrieben oder gesprochen in funf Jahren. Dein English ist besser den mein Deuitsch Ugh that was hard hehe
