So a few weeks ago I was updating the information for this (anime#2459) series, and I log in today to see if anyone else added anything new, and I find out that the information I entered had been deleted for some reason. Can somebody tell me why? The information I had entered was for the company that licensed the show, and I listed them as involved in dubbing and releasing the series on DVD.
I'm not sure what the problem would be, but I'd like to know why it would randomly be deleted. Thanks. |

So basically we're assuming the license announcement was just a big bunch of bluster, until proof to the contrary. |

I don't know where that Tempest quote came from. Is that from another thread? Seeing as I am involved in the production of the show, I can say with confidence that it is not bluster at all. The first five episodes are almost finished being dubbed, and the first DVD is scheduled to be released in September. It seems kind of odd to me that you would assume the license announcement was a lie, just because they didn't respond to an email or something. I can tell you for a fact that they have been working nonstop since the announcement was made on getting this production off the ground. It's a small startup company, so you can't expect a customer service department like Funimation or something. |

Tempest hid the license information and left the comment above, telling other staff what was going on and why he hid it.
It is also kind of odd to me that an anime licensing company, albeit small, would ignore an email from the editor-in-chief of the largest English anime news website. It would only take a few minutes to check Chris' background (thus making sure it is not a bogus email pretending him) and reply his letter. |

Ok, that makes sense. Thanks.
Granted. I certainly don't know the real reason why they didn't respond to you, but I can understand why you'd be a bit hesitant about it. I guess it just seemed to me that deleting the licensor information was strange, considering that the license announcement was confirmed in multiple places by multiple sources. At any rate, I guess I'll hold off on updating the encyclopedia for this show until the first DVD comes out. Thanks for your time and for answering my questions. |

To be clear, I didn't try to contact them. Egan (ANN's news editor) did a few months ago when they sent out their press release. Since we received no reply, and could not verify that everything was true, we didn't post the news. Likewise, since we weren't able to verify anything, I removed the license entry from the encyc. Today they e-mailed me (I guess as a result of this), and hopefully we'll have the details properly confirmed within a few days (I'm on vacation, which is why I'm not at SDCC). Once we've actually conversed with them, assuming everything is as it should be, we'll unhide the entries. Christopher Macdonald Editor in Chief Anime News Network |

Any update on this, guys? It's been over a month and my entries are still missing. I know the producer has emailed you back several times in this timeframe, so there should be no more problems with the entries.

Still no updates? As I said before, I know for a fact that the producer has given you all of his contact information, but has heard nothing back from you in the last month. If you have misplaced it, I will be more than happy to send you a PM with all relevant contact information.
This strikes me as disingenous, because the news was confirmed and verified by multiple other sources. Why would the largest anime news site on the net not want to report a license announcement that was so easily verifiable? Honestly, this whole situation is looking strangely like Anime Midstream is being stonewalled. I hope that's not the case, but that's how it appears. |

Problem is, at this point, an e-mail from the individuals running the company isn't really enough. If this was a hoax, then the same individuals perpetrating the hoax could send us an e-mail, couldn't they ?
This isn't something we would usually suspect off the bat, but the way several things developed, just made us wary of this information. And of course, the fact that they had no listed phone number, no listed address, and didn't (initially) respond to e-mails all contributed to our wariness. Fortunately Sunrise confirmed the license for us. As a result, from this point on, Anime Midstream is a company that we'll treat more or less the same as any other known licensee. I concede that we were at fault for not contacting Sunrise earlier. I'd also like to add that I think it's really cool that Anime Midstream is working on a title like this. -t |

Tempest, the great ANN staff deal with lots of news stories daily and seeks to verify it. I am proud to be a member of a site and proud that the site calls you boss.

Thank you very much for the gracious response, Tempest. I'm glad to see that ANN wasn't treating this company differently for some reason. I look forward to the release of the series, and I hope ANN will do a review when the first DVD comes out.
