Wonder if light novels might do better as e-books in the U.S. Probably the only way the rest of FMP would get published in English.

I feel like an idiot because I never checked to see if 'Ai No Kusabi' had a manga... I've only seen the OAV. Ah, early yaoi memories:) It really is a icon of the genre.

While I'm not interested in the particular title getting this treatment, I am thrilled greatly to see translated Japanese printed entertainments appearing on the Kindle.

Speaking of, I just realized that the encyclopedia does not have an entry for the original novels. Funny how I just noticed that now... |

I think the encyclopedia was only set up for anime at first. Notice how even the manga entries have "cast". Haven't checked to see how many (light) novels have entries. |

Light novels usually get ignored. I have hundreds of original light novels stretching back into the 70s - just about every series by the time it reaches anime form has at least one, if not ten. You would be surprised.
But, that being said, I would love to see more manga appear on Kindle's list, and more books in general. I still cant find more than 2 or 3 books I would want on Kindle's list, or on Sony's list - although Sony has a small set of actual manga available. Has anyone found the kindle or Sony readers useful yet? |

Oh, really? A yaoi manga? Yeah, that's just what I've been waiting for. e_e I'd be willing to bet the majority of people that own a Kindle and like manga aren't exactly chomping at the bit for this stuff either.

This is interesting, particularly since you still can't rent the Ai no Kusabi novels from DMP's eManga site. I wonder why they signed a deal with Kindle first. Are they testing the waters with a book that has name recognition? I'm personally indifferent (I don't like reading text on a screen), but if this means another platform on which new fans of manga/anime can discover it to enjoy, that's pretty cool.

I'm an Ai No Kusabi fan and I own a kindle!
I have only watched the anime, which is the most depressing thing ever. But I still liked it. I hope the new OVAs that is being released this Fall will have a better ending. |

I love Ai no Kusabi, but the whole idea behind the Kindle still gives me a headache... I like my books on paper, thank you very much! But if this is an opportunity to publish books that otherwise couldn't afford to be printed... Like Full Metal Panic and Slayers... I may have to take the bait.

animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-12-29/ai-no-kusabi-boys-love-novels-gets-aic-anime-remake It IS true, but I seriously doubt the ending will be any different. The story was always meant to be tragic, they aren't going to change the ending to appeal to fans interest in HEA. That's what fandom is for. |

Yes. My fiancee has a Kindle and adores it. I have mad envy for it, but I have to wait a few more months before I can get my own. It's extremely useful not only for fiction, but also for nonfiction applications, as many reference and non-fiction books are available. And there are lots of books no longer in copyright that you can get for free. Oh, and Wikipedia, anywhere, anytime. It is a wondrous device. If I could get manga on it I wanted to read, it would be a nigh-perfect device. |

Wow this is amazing. I never thought I would see anything like this offered on an e-reader. I prefer to read books so I have no interest in this format but I'm glad to see more outlets for yaoi.

Kind of. I travel a lot, so as much of a reader as I am it's easier to pack a ton of books on a reader instead of weighing my luggage down. Still, I think the idea of paying for a dedicated ebook reader is a bit silly. I use BookR on my CFW PSP to read and it works very well. I also have Kindle for iPhone, which also works great but is a huge battery drain--the only real problem. |
