melody. used to be the host but she was recently replaced by May J and Shanti. I prefer melody. but Shanti has a very charming personality so I'm starting to get used to her as host. May J needs to work on her hosting skills though - her responses are always so late 
I really love J-Melo because it's where I discover great artists. I found out about the Brilliant Green while watching one of their shows - someone from Germany(?) requested their video of Ash Like Snow, the second OP of Gundam 00. They don't only show mainstream artists - they show a wide variety of music from Japanese artists, including jazz (Hiromi Uehara), reggae (Rankin Taxi ) dance music (Lisa, who used to be a member of m-flo), etc. I also like how people from outside Japan can watch it. It's usually in English so anyone can understand it, and anyone can request songs. The current country with the most number of emails is the Philippines  but sadly, they haven't played my request yet.
So do any of you guys watch J-Melo on NHK? They show it on NHK International, if you have that channel. |

Yep you can just go to their site and send a request there. I've noticed that they like playing requests from those who included their pictures - haven't tried that yet though. I'm too shy for something like that 
I usually watch the show on saturdays, 2:10 pm, but that's the replay schedule. They air it first during fridays, 9:10 pm (not sure, but it's around that time). |
