I have one word for you: re-mix.
But in all seriousness, I dont' find it that hard to belive, if the average episode has 5 songs, plus the op and ed then you have 32 songs total for a 6 episode run. Since the average CD is only 15 songs long, that works out to be two CDs. Of course OTOH I don't think there were 32 different songs in FLCL

There are 21 tracks on the 1st OST and 17 on the 2nd. That's a total of 38.
The only song that comes close to a remix is part of the last track on the 2nd OST. Other than that, all the tracks I heard didn't really sound the same.
EDIT: Never mind, "Stalker" and "Stalker Goes to Babylon" are remixes. But I think that's it.

I, like many people, love this soundtrack. "Riding On a Shooting Star" is one of my favorite ending themes. I have one question what's the song that plays when a vespa splashes water on Mamimi and it's raining. Then Nauta talks to the guy from Medical Mechanica.

Are you sure those are remixes? I know that both songs are played in seperate parts of FLCL. I forget off hand where "Stalker" is played, but i know "Stalker Goes to Babylon" is played when they are talking about the "Fire Starter" video game.

Well, they both share the same tune, but I think they're just rearranged instrumentally. "Stalker" is played with an electric guitar, and I think "Stalker Goes to Babylon" is kind of a techno/synthesized remix of "Stalker," but I can't remember what they sound like off the top of my head right now.

I thought the anime itself was great too. What didn't you like about it?
And welcome to the forum!

You say it's messed up, yet looking at your avatar, you seem to like The Slayers. From what little I've seen of that series this far, that seems to be kind of wacky too, don't you think? But nowhere near Furi Kuri/Fooly Cooly/FLCL given the age differences.
