Just occured to me that in a big pack of fans like this, there must be a few of you who sport loud, spunky anime ringtones, right? Any reactions to them in public?
I have a lot of ringer ID tones that are non-anime, but the default tone is the Cowboy Bebop theme, because A) It's awesome, and B) You can DEFINITELY hear it going off. The cool thing is that everybody loves my ringtone. They think it's really cool and jazzy and ask me where I get it. Some people, (a surprising number) actually do recognize it, though. So what's your anime ringtone? |

At the moment, my ringtone is the eyecatch theme from Street Fighter II V (which, sadly, wasn't included on the DVDs), just because its utterly ridiculous use in the series made my friends and I completely lose it every time we heard it. I did have "Tank!" going for a long while, though, and I think it's high time I switched back to it. I can't say that I've experienced any reactions to either ringtone, though.

I had real emotion (does it count?) and most people ignored it but some of my friends got it. I really want the real folk blues though

My ringtone is "What's up people!?" by Maximum the Hormone, the second opening for the series Death Note. I actually really find it useful, it works great as an alarm too.
 Just hearing that loud death metal scream in the morning just brightens up my day, and it certainly gets me up

My ringtone is A Cruel Angel's Thesis from Eva. I took out the opening lyrics so it starts at the beginning of the main melody, and I normally answer my phone before it reaches the verse.
Everyone thinks it's awful. |

A lot of my ringtones are jpop songs. I have Inner Universe from GITS: SAC, Sakura Kiss from Ouran High School Host Club, Driver's High from GTO....Glamorous Sky from the live action NANA movie...

That's pretty hilarious considering otaku everywhere think it's one of the best opening themes ever (or at least the most recognizable, because of the animation) It strikes me funny that everyone NOT familiar with EVA would hate it. I like it, personally, but maybe that is only because of the OP animation itself...who knows? Maybe you should start it at the pickup when it gets all peppy, you know? That might illicit a different reaction...or get the sped-up version from AMV Hell 3...

I've since moved on to a different ringtone, but for several months I was using Nano desu~, which is Hanyuu's (Yui Horie) character song from Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Kai. That got a lot of reactions, the best of which came in those rare cases when someone actually appeared to recognize it, but obviously couldn't believe that an old fart like me would be using it!
 I've also used Yuna's Banana, Banana song from Kage Kara Mamoru in the past.

Mine can't have regular music ringtones, but I found some midi music for my phone. I first had A Maidens Policy on my phone now I have Moon Revenge. I'm getting kinda tired of it though and sooner or later will probably get something else.
Cruel Angels Thesis is really neat, I don't think it would be a bad ringtone at all.

I have some music from Totoro as my ringtone, but I don't think anyone realises it's from an anime.

My cellphone isn't fancy enough to be able to download ringtones or music, but my husband has the ringtone version of the "Pururin" song from Welcome to the NHK on his phone. I've never seen anyone recognize it, though he has gotten some strange looks for having such a girly sounding ringtone

Right now my ringtone is Now or Never by Chemistry, from Toward the Terra.
I love the song, and people like the beat. I also have Splash! By the Bz's (which isn't anime but japanese) I made these ringtones from the songs myself, and its difficult to explain to a person where they can find the music. |

My ringtone used to be part of the opening song from ROD TV.
And for text messages I had the very beginning of the Gao Gai Gar opening...so just imagine a VERY loud "GAGAGA GAGAGA GAO GAI GAR, GAGAGA GAGAGAGA GAO GAI GAR!" every single time I got a text. It annoyed the hell out of my family and was kinda startling sometimes since it was so loud. But I've got a new phone, and I've yet to get a new ringtone. I tried using the Trigun opening, but it sounded too chaotic. Anything with too much cymbals sounds really bad. |
