Heh. Most people tend to think I'm extremely weird for my musical tastes... but I've found that it can be quite addictive. One of my CD's, 'LIA - Enigmatic' to be precise, I've burned for no less than 5 different people. And they all love it despite not knowing the words. My friends car is full of CD's I've burned for him, Mostly Haruhi Characters Songs. It depends on peoples openess to different music I guess.

I car pool with a person and he doesn't care. Other than that, I don't really listen to music too often.

Not sure if its necessary but since my last post in this thread, I've gotten a bit mor reaction out of people. My friends (the ones who already listen to it) actually look forward to when I play Japanese music on school radio program. Not only that but my mom at one point heard Utada Hikaru's version of "Fly Me to the Moon (In Other Words)", and compared her voice to Celine Dion.

Now I hate Celine Dion, and Utada is a far superior singer but my mom is a fan, so in essence it's a compliment. Aside from that, "READY STEADY GO" made one of the music teachers dance, and many teachers in my school enjoyed Utada's "Flavor of Life", and L'Arc's "Hurry Xmas" when I played them on the radio program.

It's pretty awesome! I have family coming from Trinidad in about a week, and they plan to stay throughout the summer, so it should be interesting to see what they may say since Japanese music is way out there for them. Laughing Interestingly enough, a cousin of mine in New York loves Japanese music as well. Smile

I'm looking forward to tomorrow morning though, its the last day that I play on the radio for this year (excluding my role in the year-end BBQ, which should also be interesting - of course I'm playing all sorts of music then), and I plan to close off with something a bit crazier than normal, "Hare Hare Yukai" Very Happy

Unfortunately, I had forgotten it was Prom night, so the majority of the Gr. 12s weren't at school. I didn't plan on going this year so I stuck around but to be honest, next week is our last week of school. So it didn't get as much of a reaction as it could. I really don't know what people thought of it though from those who were there.

I had a period a few years ago, where I constantly where listening to the Akira soundtrack. And all people who heard it, was like "wtf?".
I guess it's a pretty advanced soundtrack - and weird, even for me now.
It needed a break, but there is still some song that I absolutely love.

In general, when I'm listening to more pop-like anime soundtracks, peoples reactions are positive.

Since this thread is still on the first page of the music forum, I see no reason to make another thread, seeing as how it has also been posted in rather recently. I would, however, like to see how people view your listening to anime music, or soundtracks.

My parents don't seem to mind anime music, my dad at times even likes it, while I try to select somewhat mild and modest tracks that my mom can listen to, which she doesn't mind. Sometimes it seems that they would prefer a good majority of my anime music over some of the other stuff that I have been listening to, although since my taste in hip hop and rap has gone under, anime music at times is a little bit competitive with my interest in metal, as well as my dad's.

My sister seems to love a lot of the anime music I bring home, mainly Lucky Star and One Piece. One day when I was playing Hare Hare Yukai she gives me this look as in a state of shock. When she finally spoke she was wondering how I had gotten my hands on the track, since she had heard it at school thanks to some of her friends. Though now, she loves to listen to Motteke Sailor Fuku! over Hare Hare Yukai.

My mother always asks me to turn it down, asks if I even understand what I'm listening, and probably thinks I'm emo or if I'm converting to christianity, since alot of Yuki Kajiura works have these dark choir chants :/ and see-saw's work is extremely emo.

when i tell people that i listen to only japanese music they usually say "y do u? u cant even understand it." Which really gets on my nerves because i dont listen to the words of any song (too much concentration). Too me a good song was to have a good beat or sound to it not whether u can understand it lol.

When my mom walked into my room one time, i had on broken wings from the trinity blood soundtrack. She thought it was a beautiful song. I then showed her some others such as the song Cain and Abel also from the trinity blood soundtrack. She really loved that one too since i'm in the band and stuff and so was she when she was younger.
I'm going to c if my band director will try and play this one time, omg! it be so cool if she did. It is a perfect full orchestral song too.

Since the last time I posted I guess my parents are more used to Japanese music - they finally realized that not all Japanese music are from anime >_> since they caught me watching J-melo on NHK yesterday. They're even surprised at how well the hosts can speak English (Well May J and Shanti do both have American blood after all).

They also used to think that I was just singing it without understanding the lyrics (they even thought I was just making the lyrics up Anime smile + sweatdrop) until I recently showed them my word document where I saved the lyrics of all the Japanese songs I love.

They just don't like the artists with tiny voices. Last night I was singing Linda Linda by Paranmaum, and it really irritated my mom Laughing

I don't really listen to Japanese music that often, but my parents don't have an opinion on the subject. My mother is the musical one in the family. so she listens to all types of music. She's heard me play a few songs and thought they were interesting, but I don't think she really got into any of them.

My dad doesn't show much interest in the music, but it doesn't bother him. He pretty much leaves me be, though occasionally, I'll be listening to something and he'll give me a strange look, but for the most part, he's indifferent.
