The one episode of Noir I watched had generic dance music along with a piano lead during the action scenes.

I'd recommend all of the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex soundtracks. Not all of the pieces are straight techno, but most of them incorporate techno elements, so you have stuff like techno-rock, techno-jazz, new age-techno, etc.

There's also an album put out as part of the Serial Experiments Lain franchise that's a collection of techno tracks - I think it's called the Cyberia Mix album or something like that.

EDIT: Oh yeah, how could I forget? The Appleseed soundtrack has some brilliant techno as well. The movie wasn't particularly good, but it's got one of the best soundtracks in recent memory. It's out of print, but you can still get it used on Amazon for pretty cheap.

I am HUGE on techno, and let me start by saying, Techno would look great with futureistic animes like Kiddy Grade, Gundam Wing, Neo Genesis Evegalion. Depends on what kind of opener or AMV you'll be making. Stuff with a lot of lights, lazer beams, and fast paced action, would call upon Happy Hardcore Techno, better known as Raver Music. Razz

But trance and Electro seem to be more favorable to others in making AMV's on Techno music. Then again Electro is more popular.

I think that some of the music in Blame! might qualfy as techno, or at least techno-ish. I was too busy trying to understand just what was going on (and I *really* should have known better) to pay much attention to the score but I got that impression.

You can try "Burns Attack" by Paul Oakenfield. He did that track for the first Appleseed Movie. There also "Dive For You" by the Boom Boom Satellites.

Also check out the soundtracks for each instalation of the Initial D series. Theres a great selection of techn/eurobeat songs.

You're talking Salva Nos. I love that song. It mixes in techno with classial instruments such as piano and violin (the violin part is the coolest). The singing is awesome to. The techno part of it has the same generic beat that a lot of songs have, but the whole song is cool and well put together.

This is the kind of thread I always end up discovering new music from.... it's the best thing about the "long tail" and music.... before u had to read in a magazine or hunt around in a record store to find something cool -- which made the choices always subject to the "gatekeeping" of editors and music store buyers and etc... -- which would lead inevitably to mediocrity and the prevalence of "poser music" -- i.e. stuff that you want to like because you think it's cool, not because you really like it. Music journalism especially creates high-profiles for really lame stuff, because journalists are always looking behind their backs, trying to profile something that they think in 2 years people will think they were cool for liking "way back when".... I GREATLY prefer the democratic nature of threads like these, where people simply list their tastes and you can just look something up on itunes or youtube and check it out for yourself....

These days I'm really into techno and techno/rock and stuff like that -- try searching for these songs:

Thomas Falke "Revolution On The Dance Floor"
Groove Cutter "My Shooter"
Control One "Just A Little Bit"
Ian Carey "Redlight"
Kevin Weg "Dead Radio"

I don't usually go for techno but these are sort of like a wierd crossover between rock and techno/trance.

Most of them I got (LEGALLY) from this list on itunes -- http://electricnation2010.com/tracks

Cool Laughing
