I think reading about this just left me 1% more disturbed and less hopeful for the World than I was before. Must be an interesting read, though.

Guess there are two lessons to learn from this.

- Don't create monsters.
- Get your kids out of the house when they come of age. That way they learn to be adults.

(I am assuming that she lived with her mom and was dependent on her mom's support. If not, then this story is far more sinister.)

If there are houses available. Japan, of course, is in a better state regarding the real estate market.

As someone who did read it, she was borderline kidnapped by her mother with every attempt she made to run away or break ties with her resulting in the mum getting a private investigator to force her to come back home. She was less dependent on her mother's support and more that she had no choice to be because she was constantly and consistently made to feel like garbage for trying to figure out what she wanted to do with her life outside of "doctor" and eventually "mid wife".
