I spy, with my little eye: Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd! My best guess is that they are voicing the Orcs Wrot & Shank.

Hey, does anyone know, for certain, who voiced Peregrin Took (Pippin) in the Japanese dub of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy? Online sources are scarce and contradictory. I'm wondering whether that voice actor is returning for The War of the Rohirrim, possibly as one of the Orcs. For all I know, they've passed away or retired.

As best as I can determine, Pippin was voiced by one Masaki Iizumi. However, I can find out very little more except that the person might have given up acting.

The site animate Times posted an article in October providing additional cast members for the Japanese dub of War of the Rohirrim. The story confirms the voice actor Masataka (Masaki) Iizumi in the role of "the ferocious orc Shank". There's even some comments from the actor:
Quote:
I was very surprised when I received an offer to play Shank in "The Lord of the Rings: The Battle of Rohan" via SMS. Since I had been away from acting and voice acting for a long time, I thought it was definitely spam (laughs).

"The Hobbit Pippin that I played before was a lovable character, but this time I'm playing the ferocious orc Shank. I'm excited about the opportunity to try a completely different role in the same world line.

During the recording of the first trilogy, researchers of Elvish languages were also involved in providing guidance, and I still vividly remember the entire staff taking on the challenge of creating a fantasy world with such sincerity.

I am truly honored to be a part of Director Kamiyama's new spin on such a beloved story and the epic adventure he will tell from his unique perspective.

Here's the full run-down of the additional cast members (character names may not be using the official Romanized spellings):
Quote:
The cast features an all-star cast of voice actors, including Nakamura Yuichi as King Helm's nephew, Frealaf, Sakamoto Maaya as Éowyn, Ono Atsushi as Wolf's father, Freca, Morikawa Toshiyuki as King Helm's first prince, Hareth, Irino Miyu as the second prince, Hama, Yamadera Koichi as Freca's loyal right-hand man, General Targ, Sawada Toshiko as the old Pennycrook, Otsuka Yoshitada as King Helm's aide, Lord Thorn, Iizumi Masataka as the ferocious orc Shank, and Katsube Enyuki as the wizard Saruman.
