People can argue with me all they want, those that take a different stance on this topic, but the kind of scope to expressive emotions and character drama can never be replicated with the same kind of life like visuals with 3d animation. It just isn't happening. Certain 3d animation techniques work for specific scenes or action setpiece moments but i think the industry tends to go to far, trying to create 3d character modeling over 2d backgrounds and you end up with an obvous clash of objects on screen that just look absolutly terrible. Personally I i find 3d art to be unique and a s tyle that does work depending upon how you use it, but I will never be advocate for 3D replacing expression of characters on screen because its never going to reach the range that 2d animation has.

I wonder if we'll get a WFM sequel or another mainline Gundam show in a new universe?

I'd prefer the latter to be honest.

Considering 4 new projects and given what we know has some foundation i'd wager

G Gundam, WFM are both safe contenders for 2 of the projects. I wouldn't be at all shocked to see Build or Build Adjecent type content either.

Do the people from Hathaway not like the novels' ending and can't come up with a better ending? Even Tomino retconned it with one Gundam short set during CCA
