Well, thanks for the update, omiya. It's great you saw them. I don't know if I could travel all the way to Japan to see MIQ,but I appreciate this anyway.

I noticed that the movie アイの歌声を聴かせて / Sing a bit of Harmony had English singing in the dub but only Japanese singing on the soundtrack.
Have the English versions of the song[s] been released at all? |

Isao Sasaki did Dangard Ace's OP
Live Show in Japanese: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkpzUnSdqFM English Version:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9mCFMa2w54 He also did the song Wandering Robot for Jetter Mars Japanese Version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8Zd5JlXg4c English Version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGxRdY55feM Additionally he did an English Version of the 1978 Harlock theme but i have to find a re-upload of it. Also there's Philipine produced English Versions of the Candy Candy OP & ED on a 45 RPM record that i know was uploaded onto youtube a while ago but are buried by the amount of re-upload of the American OP & ED |

Wow,RupanSansei! I had no idea that there even were any English language versions of anime themes of shows like "Danguard Ace" or "Jetter Mars." I'm amazed they were even made because these shows weren't even brought to America. Heck,I had no idea there even was an English language theme to "Captain Harlock" floating around out there.
Now,you should have to find both the American and English Filipino themes to "Candy Candy." You'd really love the American version, for reasons I won't reveal. You'll just have to find out for yourself. |

I can't believe that four pages in no one has mentioned this. The AnimEigo release of Bubblegum Crisis translated the songs to go along with the English dubbed version.
Here is the Japanese opening: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=an_0IIRDlc4 and the English version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRVthxzVcDo This is just the beginning, there were several other songs that were also translated. I prefer the Japanese version, but your milage may vary. |

Well,Alan45. I guess I prefer the English version. Nothing really against the Japanese version, but I kinda like hearing it in my own language. Is that OK,sir?

Sure, "De gustibus non est disputandum". Which is Latin for What ever floats your boat.
Literal translation: spoiler["In matters of taste, there can be no disputes"] |

Dangard Ace was brought to America in the weird collection show called Force Five but with Jetter Mars i have no idea as to why an English version exists other than as a filler track on an obscure vinyl release called Isao Sasaki Sing His Beloved Animation Hits that i own has almost every anisong Isao Sasaki ever sung in English with it only missing English versions Mazinger Z's OP, ED, & insert song named Theme Of Z. Also I have heard both Candy Candy openings but prefer the Filipino release as it sounds better to me. |

Well,RupanSansei. I guess I kinda prefer the American version. I remember reading one comment on YouTube that the American theme sounded a little like a Jackson Five song, which I don't really have a problem with. It's very good. I hope you or someone else gets this here. It'll be interesting for others to see and get their opinions on it.

I don't know if anyone ever read my post here on English anime songs, but in one part of it,I praised Nelvana's "Cardcaptors" theme as having a "mysterious but action-oriented quality to it." Turns out that this version isn't the only English "Cardcaptor Sakura" theme out there.
In Australia,it seems that they didn't do their own song or use Nelvana's version. What they did was do an English version of "Cardcaptor Sakura's" original opening theme. Now,I hope this will be of interest to any of our readers Down Under because both the North American and Australian versions are on YouTube,so if anyone wants to see either version, they can do so. What do any of you think of that? |

My friend and I just started watching Kiddy Grade the other night (He's never seen it before), and I was looking forward to hearing Mirai no Kioku by Yuka. The OP started up, and I was hit with an off-key English version. Funimation was notorious for dubbing the OP in their releases during the early to mid-2000's.
Now when I say off-key, I mean in comparison to the original. There have been ones like Midnight Sun from Tenchi Muyo GXP, and the OP&ED to the original Fruits Basket that I actually enjoyed. But I'm thankful that the practice seems to have been dropped for the original artists. |
