It pretty much confirms that this season will just be the entirety of Hell's Requiem, which is the shortest story arc in Bastard!! (end of Volume 8 up through Volume 12, or just barely more than 4 volumes long). Trying to split both it & the next story arc (Crime & Punishment) across two traditional cours for a "Season 2" would simply harm each arc's overall pacing, so it makes sense to make Season 2 a non-traditional length to adapt all of Hell's Requiem, and then if they do a Season 3 they can return to two cours & just focus on Crime & Punishment (Volumes 13-18), and maybe even adapt all of Volume 27 (which continued directly where Volume 18 left off at) as well.

I also hope that they make Season 3 and more seasons to adapt all the manga! I like this series so much!

Well, far from being complete, the manga is in eternal hiatus for more than a decade now, I honestly think it's possible Hagiwara will just continue the story in the anime instead.
He hiatused even his redrawing of earlier volumes, and then again, even those barely had any redrawings for their perfect editions after some point. He is admittedly lazy and demotivated, always jumping around from project to project (latest one being an indie dungeon crawler RPG game).
I wouldn't be surprised to see him just providing scripts for the rest of the story to be adapted instead of continuing the manga himself.

I've read all of Bastard!! that exists, and Hagiwara goes into good detail about his creative process, and rather than coming off as "lazy" or "demotivated", I instead took him as being such a perfectionist that he refuses to release anything that isn't the absolute best he can possibly deliver. The main reason why Hagiwara went through trying to redraw the early stuff for the kanzenban was because he HATED his early work, and barely could handle a weekly schedule as it was back in the day.
However, because of his perfectionism, he decided to completely redraw all of kanzenban Volume 2 (whereas he only did bits of kanzenban 1), which is why it took three years for that book to come out, and this was also while he was still serializing the manga in Ultra Jump! I imagine that's why he stopped redrawing stuff from kanzenban 3 & on: Shueisha likely told him to stop, because otherwise nothing would come out from Bastard!!, whether it was the kanzenban or the new chapters.
Hagiwara isn't "lazy", but rather he has a terrible habit of pushing himself well past his limit, and when combined with his constant medical problems (which he also detailed in his "You Gotta Hagiwara!" postscripts), he effectively ran himself ragged around 2010. Hagiwara doesn't continue Bastard!! because he's lazy, it's because he's too much of a perfectionist, and at this point in his life he knows what that means for him: Risk his health to give nothing but the absolute best he can possibly do, and I imagine he now chooses his health.
The small projects he gets involved in are much smaller in scale & scope, and doesn't require as much from him as doing more Bastard!! would require of him. Of course, though, that's just how I see things.

@Lord Geo
Sounds similar to what happened to Xenozoic Tales aka Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. The art from Mark Schultz got so detailed and he was such a perfectionist that it became impossible for him to release the series in any consistent manner (Most he got out was a prequel in 2015). People forget that these artists are human too, and if they are making lavish art, it will take time. The AI hasn’t gotten that good yet.

@Lord Geo
I mean, that's the other thing, he IS a perfectionist as well. I'm not personally even calling him lazy, just taking it directly from the horse's mouth here, he said that he was lazy and easily demotivated numerous times in his Jump author corners and even blog posts, not to mention in his very Bastard manga NUMEROUS TIMES, which is one of the things he properly redrawn without the lazy comedic effect of "I'll leave to the readers imagination this cool thing I didn't want to draw", which was also in the tankobon releases as is.
To boot, those perfect editions he was making because he hated his early work, while finally making these into fully paneled scenes, slowly but surely became something without any new additions at all, that still included these portions anyway (aka he really started not to bother again, the perfect edition are notoriously inconsistent in quality and one of the main criticisms they got in Japan, when the latest 2-3 volumes were just a reprint, pretty much).
Being lazy, easily demotivated and a perfectionist is quite the bad combination overall, and likely the reason why he is the king of hiatuses (Bastard is not the only project, even in small scope, that he abandoned over the years either).
It came to a point when he said he should probably just stick making Bastard hentai doujins (with the STUDIO LOUD IN SCHOOL alias), since they made him more money than his latest volume sales at that point (or lack thereof, I would add, not unsurprisingly).
...Just to completely also drop his hentai doujins altogether after that very comment lol
Yeah, Hagiwara is precisely what he says he is in my personal take. Ambitious guy with tremendous attention to detail, that gets self sabotaged by his own laziness and demotivation.
