Wasn't able to watch this year, but props to everyone involved! Even if my favs didn't always win, I think for the most part they did pretty well either in the jury selection or public vote. Honestly, it was just a pretty solid year for anime overall.

Also definitely recommend looking at the acknowledgements page on the website - it was really cool to hear from people like Tomohiro Furukawa (director for Revue Starlight), Kensuke Ushio (CSM composer), Yuki Kamiya (CSM ED 3 director), etc... I think my favorite was Kazuyoshi Mukaitouge's comment about DIY's Jobko being inspired by Steve Jobs haha

The main take away from this is that anime fans will whine about Crunchyroll having terrible choices for their awards, then have even more terrible choices.

Well, I'm happy with the results, glad to see a bit more niche anime that aren't too avant-garde. Especially Yama no Susume as my favorite franchise winning Anime of the Year is quite cool, glad to see it's not always a popularity contest. Also, I'm gonna count best character design for Do it Yourself! as a win for Yama no Susume as well, since it's pretty much the same design, done by the same person.

As somebody who thought Crunchy awards were terrible, this is almost as bad. Laughing

Another #BOCCHISWEEP for the public. I can see the jury trying to go for more underrated series, but some of them, seriously? Lol. Though the Revue Starlight Movie wins are surely appreciated, great underrated series.

Don't really care otherwise but love seeing Dragon Quest get some recognition.

N-No thanks.

I'd take /a/ rankings more seriously.

Remember when Hugtto won because like two members of the committee were obsessed with it and the rest said "I'm not going to watch it, but okay"

Ascendance of a Bookworm winning a public vote? A surprise for sure, but a welcome one. r/anime awards continue to be the most diverse anime awards out there - I don't necessarily agree with all of the results, but it's always nice to see more lesser-known series get the spotlight.

Congrats to both Yama no Susume and Bocchi The Rock! Goes to show you that an anime about cute girls is at its best when it doesn't have relevant males and het.

I found their public vote better in majority of cases.

The only one where I think jury choice is better is "Best Slice-of-life".

Crunchyroll is also going to be all Bocchi and Chainsaw Man with the odd other Shounen jump sprinkled in. You know, for variety.

Edit: Forgot that CR is doing its weird "fall is next year" thing, so enjoy Attack on Titan and Spaxfam winning everything.

That's the problem with Judges and Jurys. It's a couple of people getting to decide things for the entire world.

I'm more interested in the public awards. Mushoku Tensei and Bocchi sweeping is always great to see. Plus some Akebi Sailor Uniform nods. Definately a wonderful selection from the public.
