FINALLY. It may be on Netflix, but at least the anime hasn’t been canceled!

Gloria Aleluia! It seems it will happen after all.

And now awaiting for that complete adaptation of the Akira manga that was announced a few years ago.

Exclusiv animated-series for Netflix? Well that sound great and I hope it will be a good adaption.

My question is: Animated-Series as a TV-Series or a Series of Movies?

It's not clear to me how a quiet listing is any more official than the very official-looking poster at the Annecy Film Festival, or the all too short teaser video that existed for Pluto. It absolutely was announced before. But no matter, great news.

I guess the live-action Pluto got dropped. Makes me think Netflix should get Yawara, too. And Master Keaton.

welp
Netflix implies terrible CG studio since thats who they almost exclusively work with

small chance its Orange which is the only good one but uh if it was I bet they would've led with that to build hype

I am no longer hoping for high quality

Here is some old test footage. Looks good. Very CG heavily too bad that is needed. Like with Inyashiki. Hope the final show is like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVGoyfvxY78

The mana is basically Japanese Watchmen and cinematic AF so it would be kinda hard to mess this one up. Especially if I consider the director. It will all depend on the budget and the ability to get 20-something episodes.

SO EXCITED. I honestly thought Maruyama was not going to make it before the series gets made. Bless the legend.

What are you talking about? Netflix has worked with plenty of 2D studios including the big ones like WIT, BONES, and MAPPA. There's no real reason to immediately assume anything they pick up is automatically destined to be a 3DCG project.

At any rate though, considering Maruyama briefly dispelled the rumors of its cancelation on his Twitter account last year (said tweet has since been deleted so I guess he might've said too much) and claimed the staff was still hard at work on it, it's pretty safe to say he's still involved, so it's likely still being done at M2. Especially since they haven't really had any notable projects since the poster we saw back in 2017.

Anyway I'm super excited for this one. Hopefully Maruyama was able to put together a good crew for it

+1000. Really, this whole "Netflix=bad CGI" thing is getting really old and tiresome. Specially since they've been involved in some of the most beautifully hand-drawn series of the past few years like Vampire in the Garden, Hero Mask, Carole and Tuesday, Super Crooks or Devilman... (heck, I could name a ton more...)

I'm going to add in that C&T isn't exactly a true Netflix original/exclusive as the rest of the list but I totally agree with what you said. They're the reason why we get some of the best looking anime that wouldn't have been possible through other means due to the content.
I also love that asinine CG comment considering Cyberpunk with Trigger wasn't even over a year ago.
