Not gonna be many cons rushing to book this guy after being so irresponsible. He'll probably only be at tiny cons that don't know better or other cons that are run by disreputable people. (A particular con organizer from the midwest whom he has worked with before comes to mind.)

Or for Ryan Kopf, but he's had worse looks.
This convention was a horrible no good very bad idea. Those who want to talk about supporting artists, that's why there's Etsy and Patreon and Indiegogo and Kickstarter. Those who say they should have the freedom to go out there and have fun, the virus doesn't take a vacation. Take some of your freedom talk home with you to the people you infect. Take it to the doctors and nurses who have had to wall themselves off from their family so they can keep the rest of us safe.
Conventions are going to look different on the other end of this, no doubt. The days of raves, for example, may be over. But talk of what exactly needs to change needs to wait, first, for events to be possible at all.
But if you were at Anime Dallas, you should self-isolate as if you have it and you should get yourself tested.

Well, with David Wald and Luci Christian out of the picture after this weekend, Swasey is now 100% of the guests booked for Anime Houston in March.

Publicly and spectacularly. It's out on Twitter.

Wow, how in the world did this con not get shut down by the government or something and let it proceed?

Bad luck with geography. The hotel at the airport was actually within Grapevine city limits. Basically they follow state guidelines (almost non-existent) and had no enforcement provision against it.
So it gets blamed on Texas (which is absolutely true), but it couldn't have actually been held 10 miles further east in Dallas (which would have disallowed it under current rules).

... I'm sitting here feeling shocked that there was any sort of anime con still scheduled for this year. But then when I looked it up, Con-Alt-Delete is still scheduled for the end of December, and that shocks me too. Especially given Chicago's restrictions.
It's not lost on me that John Swasey is also set to be attending said con, either. Just... geezus.
