Ha, so they are called The Bount! Glad to know I wasn't crazy for being the only one using that pronunciation.

Actually the press release never refers to the Bount/Bounto by name. So it's still unknown which pronounciation is actually the correct one (or at least the one that the dub will use).

While I'm glad they're going to finish off the Rescue Arc, the Bounto Arc is SO bad. I wish they were skipping ahead.

I hope no one is surprised that they're continuing this, though. I'd be shocked for people who thought the series got cancelled.

Not surprising considering the AS site had indicated the continuation and it's clearly popular, especially considering how many were actually worried that Death Note had completely replaced the show.

Problem with that is that if they did that, the dub would be way too close to catching up with where the episodes are now in Japan. I don't think it's all that bad though, I thought as far as what you'd typically expect out of fillers it really was actually quite good. It's the Naruto fillers I'm most worried about........

Death Note's ratings haven't even been that good for Adult Swim. Bleach's reruns usually beat it every week, & back when Bleach was new, it was giving AS it's best anime ratings in years.
The Bounto Saga was overall all right, I thought. Started off slow & they really padded it to make it last a full year, but the final battles were pretty good. At the very least, it's far better than Naruto's fillers were (which start this week, incidentally).

Have you seen the post Bounto arc episodes? Skipping them would seriously screw up the following arc seeing as how several filler characters remain in the canon episodes.

Its true; the bount arc lame though it was didn't outsuck other dreck.
Nonetheless, after the heights of the Soul Society finale I feel that the show still hasn't recovered. I got excited about Bleach initially because of the way it so energetically delved into its universe. It seemed to actually benefit from its episodic nature; by the end of each show it felt like momentum was building - that awful wonderful feeling of needing more was there.
With the Bount arc, I felt like everything that made Bleach cool and fun was stripped away - instead of hollow of the week its pathos of the week, Ichigo (and everyone else) is consumed by boring subplots. And then there's the Bount - desperately trying to be badass but stylish. It wasn't just that they were mostly lame characters, their designs were a huge step down from prior antagonists, and though fight scenes on the whole were passable, thats NOT GOOD, considering fighting is a great deal of what goes on in Bleach. And what happened to the BLOOD and GORE?!?!
Bleach wasn't exactly Ninja Scroll but somehow cutting a behemoth sized hollow in half and then having it FADE away NEUTERS something.
"Oh well" I thought to myself, "it'll all be over when its manga again." ...But its not. What happened?
"Oh well" I now think to myself. "I suppose one could be grateful it was so good for that long"

I don't understand why people think that's a bad thing.

Heck, the Bount arc was waaay better than not just the Naruto fillers, they are even better, IMO, than the current Hueco Mundo arc.
Bleach is phailing, slowly, but terribly as compared to Naruto, which the manga story is climbing up to its peak and climax.

It wouldn't be if the dubs were made at the same time as the original Japanese language version, but I don't think that's the case...

I agree with BrothersElric here. If they skipped the Bount Arc and catch up to the episodes in Japan, this could be good or bad for us viewers who wants to watch new episodes.
In my opinion, this is bad because once we catch up to the episodes now showing in Japan, we would have to wait a while until VIZ Media dubs the new episode and usually it takes a while to translate, do actors voicing, edit fit for audiences, etc.
Therefore, this would result Adult Swim showing repeats for a quite a while until they have more episodes completed (probably a full 52 episodes), which will take longer depending how far they get in Japan. But that's just my thoughts.

So the real question is: accounting for pre-emptions to let other series do marathons, holidays, and the like ... when can we expect the 100-episode mega-marathon to hit?

This kind of comment just confuses me. I don't understand how someone who's a supposed fan of Bleach can't see the greatness of the current arc. It's building up slowly but surely, just like the SS arc did. I don't know if the majority of people who make these comments don't read the manga or what, but it really bugs me. What's more annoying about the anime is that Bount arc characters stick around after it returns to canon material, only to be used to drag out the story. And once they do finally go to the Hueco Mundo arc, the scriptwriters mess around so much that the characters look more stupid than they should, just to help drag it out even more...
Now, if these comments are directed solely at the anime version, I can understand, but the manga version of HM is plain awesome. Especially Kurotsuchi's makeover and what he does to "fix" Nemu after his fight with Szayellaporo.
