Okay...Steven Chow is involved with the movie...I guess it CANT be that bad...I mean Shaolin Soccer was the most funniest movie I ever seen X_X and Kung Fu hustle is pretty good too.
Well the costume does look a little cheap...but the background look pretty nice

Except, you know, Goku wasn't asian.. he was an Alien. They got asian people where it counts, Chi-chi, Mai, Roshi, Yamcha.

Meh, I won't judge anything about this movie, on pictures that look like they came from one of those $10 Keychain Cameras, good for pictures you weren't expecting, just not good for quality.
I feel that FOX isn't afraid of the WGA, since you know, they hired some guy to write the script for this movie years ago(his name slips my mind, however, I know FOX did hire a writer for this movie, way back when). Sure, Goku's Gai(Gui? Gi?, whatever, his fighting outfit), may look terrible, but so are those pictures. Sure, Justin Chatwin doesn't have nearly enough hair to resemble Goku, but that can be done on the computer(Although, I recall reading somewhere that the Director thought Chatwin's Hair was good enough), and that Lady who plays Bulma isn't wearing that wig she was apparently going to. But those are early Production stills, so not much to go by.
Teto, maybe that's a codename or a "in-production" name, you know, how like Blackout in Transformers was originally Vortex. Heck, since they seem to be doing the Demon King Piccolo Arc, he may as well be Krillin/Kurrin, which makes sense why his lines were filmed in one day, since, in that arc, Krillin is killed by one of Piccolo's Henchmen, Tamborine, IIRC..
So ya, I'll wait until 08-15-08, until then, I've got Cloverfield to watch tommorrow.

I'm guessing they are afraid, because they'd be shooting the Wolverine and Magneto spin-offs by now, if it weren't for the strike. And since Avatar's not out for another year, and since they needed a tentpole this year, they went for the only script which was available.
Heck, you know they're desperate when they're green-lighting X Files 2!

By my recollection, DBZ takes place on 'earth' but it clearly isn't the earth as we know it. I don't think they ever mention specific countries. It seems like some alternate earth. In any case, my point is that in the DBZ universe Japan, Mexico, China, and any other real countries don't exist, so why does the location its shot at matter?

*snrrrrrrrrrk*
I am having massive flashbacks to the Mortal Kombat movie right now! Man, if I was worried about the artistic integrity of DBZ right now, I'd be mad. But I'm not, which is the same reason I died laughing when I saw the horrible Speed Racer trailer.
I actually want to see this if only for the nostalgia and hilarity.

At least Street Fighter had better costumes than this poorly sewed psuedo-cosplay.

It has to do with some Stereotype BS that Hollywood has. I forget the name of the documentary, but look at most every Asian Actor that has been shot on celluloid; most are cast in bit roles or in situations where they become the stereotypes/villains. Heck, look at Jackie Chan's early "American" roles in Cannonball Run and The Protector before he got big.

Nationalities/Races in Dragonball are very ambigious since it doesn't set in any country. When there are characters that are likely of a certain race or ethnicity, they're usually well...look like caricatures.(Upa and Bora are examples of that)
One piece is definately another example of an anime with ambigious ethnicities and races. Except for those like the giants.

Most westerns in the 60s and 70s were filmed in Spain.
The second half of Full Metal Jacket - the half that's set in Vietnam - was filmed in London.
Gangs Of New York was filmed in Italy.
I could go on.
It's entirely possible that this will end up being a crappy film (even for those who have an interest in the franchise, which I don't) but I doubt the location will have anything much to do with it.

Yes, and most of Vietnam was fought in a jungle, which is why FMJ=fail.

Yes, but that wasn't present-day New York, which is why they could get away with it.

Sadly, this movie could hurt sales,or fly right by.I'm sure we will hear from Funimation,if it doesn't go down.Companys have done it before.Eidos was pissed at the Tomb Raider movie, saying the movie hurt game sales, back in the day. Then the Tomb Raider movie producers, blamed the games, for the movies low sales.Hilarious.I don't think it will damage Funimations rep.

Wow, all this bashing of a movie that isn't even out yet or have trailers out or any real information to base a judgement on aside from an individuals slanted point of view either for or against it. What a surprise as well; GATSU is leading the charge. The crusader against all things American himself, why am I not surprised? If you don't want to see it or don't like it then don't watch it buddy, they're not holding a gun to your head now are they?
Fans of The Count of Monte Cristo weren't to fond of the anime adaptation, I'm sure you'd find a way to turn that around though since in that case it's an anime. You can add Gedo Senki to that as well, which the author of Earthsea herself didn't care for. Adaptations go both ways and if you want to get all upset when it occurs on the opposite side then you're going to have to be consistent and blast it on the anime side as well. Not to mention such a quick jump to a conclusion before anything that you could really judge it on is provided is no better than people who assume all anime is porn or Pokemon, and we all know how much you hate them.
