I Don't mind milking the cow again and again if the milk is good. Otherwise, NO.

Well, Sunrise has been milking Gundam, the Universal Century in particular, for decades. It'd be nice to see a different giant robot franchise gain traction and advance, even if giant robots are less of its overall focus.

The problem is the setting : Gundam is a universe focused on a theme (war and its casualties, suffering etc.), Code Geass was focused on the main character and his revenge. I didn't find Akito interesting because of that. They need to develop something else, Something with a strong meaning appealing to human nature, to nurture this franchise.

Stopped caring about the franchise after R2. I don't know what's the point of continuing the franchise when R2 ended the show in the best possible manner.

I kinda hate the franchise but can get some ironic enjoyment out of parts of it. Well, mostly R2. That said. The new film ends on multiple cliffhangers and was clearly only produced to soft-reboot the canon. Like Star Wars VII, Jurassic World and so on. Asides of the other retcons the 2nd wave (!) of summary films gave us. So yeah... Welcome to Sunrise.
That said, where is Gundam Seed S 33⅓? Much more untended comedic value could be derived from it than this. Unless Sunrise pulls a Crisis on Infinite Earths down the line and smashes all parallel versions (so many manga...) into each other. That i am down for!
Edit: I forgot to point out that Geass NEVER stopped as a franchise due to never having an off year. The 10 year plan has thus long been passed.

On the one hand, it would be better than to keep milking the creatively-bankrupt UC Gundam timeline with even more pointless entries that exist for no purpose other than to for it's complacent fanbase to shell out more cash.
On the other, what can you really do with the setting without Lelouch? Akito had to bring him so that shows that the franchise really can't progress much outside his shadow.

What part of "there is a ten-year plan for new Code Geass content" do you not understand?

They should make it into a franchise like Gundam with different time lines new protagonist, new rules and different Geass like how they made Akito the Exiled but as a tv series instead.

Code Geass is very similar to Gundam with politics and war so it can go on even without Lelouch.
I'm not the biggest fan of Lelouch thanks to most of R2 so I can deal with a new protagonist like Akito. I'm actually quite excited to see Code Geass grow into something big like Gundam and unlike Gundam (I wasn't born when it started) I was here when Code Geass first started and I'm actually going to watch it develop over the coming years. Its just really close to my heart, but it will be sad to say goodbye to the original cast although I'm sure they will go back and make new material one day.

the story doesn't have to feature Lelouch. The movie was basically end of that saga. There are many mysteries related to Geass itself which the series can tackle. Maybe a CC prequel.

It's a normal business practice to make more of a successful product and the movie did well, so finding new opportunities for expansion is to be expected here.
I agree that so far the property has relied on Lelouch, but different people also do like other aspects of it as well, so there are alternatives to this. One is to try a multiple path approach. That way, you can experiment a little while also having a backup.

Cliffhangers? No, not really. I wouldn't say that. It doesn't leave you in the middle of the action. Loose ends? A couple, but the film story itself is not unresolved at all.

Not exactly, unless you are counting merchandise or mostly unlicensed manga that few outside of Japan have read. The anime itself has not been in constant production, even if you counted the recap movies.

If they don't know what form it will take... then it's not a plan, is it?

On the one hand this is good.
The anime industry is planning ahead instead of playing catch-up for a change.
On the other hand this franchise isn't nearly strong enough to remotely plan 10 years out. They aren't gundam or marvel. Sunrise needs to shrink the production window planning down to 5 years if they want to meet their own goals.
