My interpretation of "most interesting" light novel is a series that unique, does weird or unusual things, and is overall a fascinating concept and original take on a genre.

Yeah, I'm not really sure that I'd consider any of, say, my three or four favorite light novels to be "more interesting" than something like Watashi, Nōryoku wa Heikinchi de tte Itta yo ne!

Probably wouldn't stop me from voting for Maria-sama ga Miteru, though, if I'm being honest.

So happy to see oreimo and eromanga sensei make the list. Slayers...makes me want to revisit that world soon.

I was gonna complain Legend of the Galactic Heroes isn't on the list but I don't think it counts as a light novel.

Ugh, I'm getting tired of touting the and re-touting the merits of this anime. The Most Irresponsible Man in Space light novels became the 1993 anime The Irresponsible Captain Tylor. Go and watch it and unlock some of the secrets of Life.

Surprised to see Haruhi and Slayers rank so high, considering their age. Also Hyou-ka, I was under the impression it didn't do very well, but apparently it did (despite not contracting sequelitis).

Twelve Kingdoms isn't on the list? Ugh, This is why they should've made a sequel! (unless it's considered a non-light novel series?)

I'm sorry, but the correct answer was Spice & Wolf. That is what we were looking for. I would have also accepted Scrapped Princess as an alternative answer.

Scrapped Princess is great. I also like the same author's Chaika The Coffin Princess.
And Baccano! (Over Durarara any day!)

I found Baccano much more interesting than Durarara's story, but each to their own I guess...

Danmachi and Spice & Wolf not on list? This ranking can't be trusted. The only thing Sword Art I care about is Progressive.

Excuse me WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. F#$K. JAPAN!??!?!!?
What kind of s**t taste is that?! You'd put it higher than series like Durarara, NGNL, Overlord, Monogatari and Index?!?!?!??!

I wonder if the voters sort of forgot that Baccano!, Spice and Wolf, and Scrapped Princess are all based on light novels? Or maybe these are too old and too minor to be remembered (unlike Haruhi and Slayers ofc, both of which are big hits)... Or maybe they did not click with the Japanese audience... Or maybe... nvm... at least Kino's Journey is up there.

No, Japan only have good taste and also Eromanga-sensei is still recent so is normal that is higher than older LN's.

If this was 1 year from now, Eromanga will rank about 10-20 position. It will still be a good position but it will be less recent and new LN's will be higher.

My personal take:

1 Eromanga Sensei
2 No Game, No Life
3 Saga of Tanya the Evil
4 The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
5 Re:Zero
6 Sword Art Online
7 Oreimo
8 Monogatari series
9 KONOSUBA
10 Overlord
11 Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions!
12 My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU
13 Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts
14 Full Metal Panic!
15 Slayers

Plenty of other anime I could probably add, but don't know which of them would have been LNs. Also, I have no idea why I found Eromanga Sensei so entertaining, and as such have no excuse for my poor behavior. :_-(

Really...? No one voted for High School DxD Sad it's one of my favorite anime's, and I've read a good majority of the Light Novels....but I'm surprised it didn't at least between 15-20 Sad

Index's low position is sad but sadder is that I agree that it's getting less and less interesting. Maybe season 3 is gonna boost its popularity up again, but I really hope the new volumes start getting good once more.

The users of Goo Ranking need to be stopped.

Stopped. And arrested for crimes against anime.

Girlish Number was right though. The talentless writers and production committees are the greatest enemies of the medium right now.

But let's be realistic, compared to more "traditional" novels, most light novels(with exceptions such as Monogatari series and Konosuba) are just subpar otaku wish fulfillment.
