Last episode's quality reminds me of Dynamic chord from last season, they should have just kept things the way it was, less than decent would have better been than awful. Too bad i enjoyed it they wasted something that could have been far better, now i just hope they doesn't keep falling until the end

Well damn, I figured things were going this way but I really hoped they wouldn't. I still can't believe Episode 9 was the result of a two week delay to improve animation quality. What on earth did it look like before!?!? Shocked

It always hurts to see something like this happen to such a happy-go-lucky series. Marchen Madchen wasn't amazing by any means, but it was a fun story, and I felt like it was just starting to find its groove. If it gets canceled (which looks likely), I can only give my sincere thanks to everyone who worked as hard as they could under the worst of circumstances to get this out every week. It wasn't in vain because, at the very least, it made my day a little brighter.

The thing is that in those two weeks they couldn't even work properly on the animation...to find out more I invite you to read this...https://blog.sakugabooru.com/2018/03/24/marchen-madchen-a-production-postmortem/

Well then guess I'll watch episode 10 on Thursday and say that the series is complete.

Damn, what an unfortunate turn of events that happened with this series. I enjoyed it for what it was and it’s sad to hear how troubling the production behind it was. I’m curious as to how the studio will be able to continue being in operation after this incident. Just a regrettable situation all around to Tomohiro Matsu’s creation. Crying or Very sad

They should have delayed Episodes 9-12 altogether and announced it when they are ready. The last episode was really disappointing and embarrassing. Not to mention that this is a major insult to the author who passed away years ago.

It's a bit misleading. The person that died only came up with the basic premise but the actual content was all done after the death.

I feel saddened by this. Sad This was a anime I was anticipating the most to watch this year, and to hear it possibly getting canceled is depressing. I have heard a bit there has been issues with this anime, but I didn't think it was this bad. I guess I might still check out the anime, but I am hoping if I can't fully enjoy the anime that the light novels or manga would be made available so I can fully experience the story at least.

Part of me is really pissed and offended. I didn't think the series was anything spectacular, but it was fun and entertaining. It was nice to see a magical girl show again that didn't completely devolve into "gory death of the week theater" but also not revert all the way back to PreCUre level children's fare.

I think one has to take the reports of what happened behind the scenes with a grain of salt because so far we're only hearing one side of the story, and disgruntled employees can sometimes be apt to over-blowing a situation.

That said, it does indeed look and sound like a bad case of mismanagement from start to finish. The idea that you can take 2 weeks off to work on animation quality for a show that had decent (not great or terrific quality) and come back with an episode that has such abysmal quality, is malpractice. Management clearly never found a workable balance with the employees, were never able to inspire their animators or writers that the project was worth the effort. There is also significant indication that they were working too hard to squeeze the margins.

Part of what was going on, it also seems, is that you had folks who didn't want to take responsibility for anything. It's one thing to be upset that you aren't getting credit for work that you have done. It's another thing to blow up that you were incorrectly placed on the episode credits for an episode you didn't think you did a lot of work on is another thing in of itself.

As for the issue of pay, I continue to say that it is a problem, but that the animators cannot claim total innocence. If you don't think you're getting enough money for a job you signed up for, the answer isn't to torpedo the job. It's to not sign up for the job in the first place. Yes, it can be hard, and scary, to be staring at the prospect of not having a job, but how likely are the animators who worked on this series to get a job with any other studio now? One of the reasons studios have been able to get away with charging low wages is because so many are willing to accept them. If people would stop signing up for such low paying jobs, it would force the studios to pay more. Unfortunately, employees tend not to realize how much power they personally have.

With everything I've read about the series now, I don't have any hope that it will "stick" the landing. I suggested last week that it was possible that episode 9 was already baked in, so they were focusing on 10-12 during the two-week break. But, who knows.

One of the production assistants mentioned in the Sakugablog article, Kitamura, actually responded on twitter. It really was a heartfelt response for me personally, imo nobody should have to feel sorry for their hard work, still it's great to see the outpouring of positivity given to him taking into account the circumstances that led to the current situation regarding the production of this series. I truly wish the best for the people involved.

This turn of events has been very disappointing as I liked this show. I'm hoping that Crunchyroll will make sure that they get the last 2 episodes even if they aren't airing on TV. They licensed 12 episodes for streaming so legally they should either get 12 or get some money back. If it goes the way of money we will never know as that is something that would get kept quiet.

I read the twitter response from Masura after reading the article that was on the twitter page, and I agree they were heartfelt responses. Smile I hope things work out for the staff. At best, I can see the last two episodes being release on DVD/Blue-ray if they can't get them broadcasted.

Do you mean the writer? Otherwise, I agree. Hopefully this series would get an improvement over time.
