It is really quite warming to read that American critics are buying UK digital copies of A Silent Voice despite the inconveniences involved. Given the news that unfolded over the last weekend, it seems like an established niche for theatrical premières is being carved over here.

——

Overabundant though perhaps it may be, I am really taken by Naoko Yamada's focus on limbs and extremities. She plays both to her own strengths and those of KyoAni by channelling emotion into the movement of body parts—she knows at least as well as any other director how the medium of animation accentuates and gives purpose to otherwise inconsequential human motions, and the little jokes that are made about such a fixation are well worth enduring.

I gotta figure out how get A Silent Voice on iTunes UK cause I'm thinking the chances of a theatrical run aren't huge given the licensors involved.

Yeah you're going to have to make sure you have the explicit material filter if you don't want to see that or something unconscionable. Even with Fate, there is definitely a good variety of designs, particularly since Grand Order came around. I don't really look at the popularity rankings but from my experience, much of the fan art produced for that franchise tends to be of the flavor of the month characters, though there are definitely perennials.

Gotta agree with Michelle that the first act of A Silent Voice was fantastic. The rest was still pretty good, but perhaps suffered from how many characters it was trying to cram in.

I don't think anyone can argue with the fact that Nagatsuka was best girl.

Protect him at all costs.

I would just like to point out that the example given for A Silent Voice featuring Yamada's usual obsession with legs... might not be the best example as I'm pretty sure you had basically the same shot in the manga too. Shoya's sister is just never shown. Which to me led to a somewhat unintentionally comedic moment at the very end of the movie when spoiler[the mental crosses Shoya's put on everyone's faces fall away and he can actually see everyone clearly... and yet his sister's face is still obscured. By her own daughter, of all things.]
