Yeap, and probably will be successful, looking that's exactly what the fans of this kind of anime are looking for.

Looking from outside the target fanbase, almost everything noways are generic or a sequel.
Action shonen anime are all the same.
Sports anime are all the same.
Cards anime are all the same.
Battle/Harem shows are all the same.
Meaningless fanservies anime for boys are all the same.
Meaningless fanservies anime for girls are all the same.

The differences and what make them unique is usually found from the target fanbase point of view.

A real original history is something special that only appear once in a while.

When I first saw write-ups for this anime, I thought it would be something like a slightly-more-sharp-tongued Galko-chan: kinda raunchy maybe, maybe making a few jokes at the viewer's expense, but still emotionally sincere.

But wow, this anime doesn't seem to be about that at all. Oh well.
