Jeez.... Higurashi does NOT promote this violence. It has been said (some may say even thrown in your face) multiple times in the series (particularity in Kai) that violence is not the answer and there are much better ways to go about solving your problems.
At least there are some channels that are still airing it, seeing as how episode 14 just aired. As for Kodomo no Jikan (WHY are you still calling it Nymphet if the US release was canceled??), I had no interest in the show in the first place. |

Mmmm I think they are calling it Nymphet to differentiate it from the child porn OVAs that came out earlier.
But its sad to see shows being forced off the air... People are over-reacting to things that happen in the real world and believing that make believe and reality are actually one and the same... |

Because it's still the English title... Plus that's what it's more commonly known as. It's only the headline anyways, they probably used it to save space. "Kodomo no Jikan" is still used to reference it in the article. |

And why are they citing the violent crimes for Kodomo no Jikan's cancellation? There's creepy fanservice for sure, but no violence to speak of.
The ax girl situation already had too many factors. From what I remember, the girl was being abused by her policeman father and no one moved a finger to help her. She would've killed her father anyways, with her probable mental state. She may have seen that Higu ep and be inspired by the weapon, OR she may have just been in a hardware store looking for a murder weapon. This whole thing is retarded, like the denpa killings from way back when. Otaku and anime are going to be looked down on again until we get another Densha Otoko. |

uhh... what does Nymphet have to do with axe murders? not that i couldn't think of a million other reasons to take it off the air. |

*sigh* Great, just great. Now everyone who watches this show is not only a pedo/molester but they're wannabe axe murderers.

You've been specifically told not to do this here. |

How many stations are playing Higurashi because of being pulled from two stations already?

I think there's one or two stations left that still is showing Higurashi. I sure hope that finish the last chapter of the series without any further problems.

This makes me wonder, have violence scenes really increase in anime or are TV stations in Japan being more strict?
I can't see why they would cancel both shows because of the axe incident. I wonder how will this affect the violence rate in anime. |

A violence rap for Kodomo no Jikan is ridiculous.
I don't think a couple of areas pulling Higurashi is going to change the amount of violence in anime. Higurashi is beyond the norm anyway. Even if all the stations pull the show, they'll release it on DVD anyway. |

Higurashi I can understand as it's violent and almost gleefully murderous. (Although I don't really think it makes sense to cancel a show because of one incident which isn't even tied to the series.) |

It would be better to use either its full name Television Saitama Co., Ltd., its established name TV Saitama in the Encyclopedia, or its nickname (and URL) Teletama. No one calls it "TV Tama." |

This might not concern something happening in America (or an English-speaking country for that matter), yet I feel compelled to post this:
(This just seems an awful lot like what Mr. Bradbury was talking about.) |

I really, really tire of how everyone leaps to the obnoxious police-state comparisons every time something like this happens. It's one station choosing not to air a show because they object to the content. It's perfectly within their rights to do so. The government is not telling them they can't air it, there's no massive bureaucracy stopping freedom of expression. PLEASE stop with the specious nonsense "Oh god this is FASCIST!" crap every time someone decides not to air or publish something. It's a completely ridiculous argument to make. |
