As you can see, I'm obviously still working on this. I created this forum for the purpose of off-topic discussion for ANN members (as I know quite a few users have been clamoring for one). This site is not affiliated with Anime News Network in any way. It's actually kind of a fan site for ANN that I created (which would be a first since I don't think ANN has any fan sites). Hopefully this will go better than the previous attempt at creating an off-topic ANN community to post on... [EDIT: Made the title more specific. -TK] Last edited by PantsGoblin on Mon Jul 30, 2007 11:07 pm; edited 1 time in total |

The fan forum's moderation is not as strict as ANN's either. You're still not allowed to link to fansubs or do stuff like flame people, but you can have bigger avatars and signatures and stuff like that. Me, PG, and frentymon are all currently mods, but if necessary we'll recruit more in the future if the userbase gets too big for us three to handle by ourselves.
And this should go without saying, but it doesn't matter if you're a regular poster on ANN or a lurker. Anyone is free to join the fan forum. Edit: Edited to reword some stuff to clarify what's going on with moderation. The moderation may not be quite as strict as ANN's, but Gaia-like NO RULES DO WHATEVER YOU WANT LOL!!!111 type of behavior will absolutely not be allowed. |

From what I've heard from JVH Fan Cafe was wiped out when their database lost all its information. He’s waiting for the new phpBB3 release to come out next month before restarting Fan Cafe (which is good because I was running a tournament). In the meanwhile I’ll sign up for your forum if you want. |

Which is why I created this one, which is far more reliable than a free forum (actually, I was already planning on creating this before I even knew about Fan Cafe). You're free to go back to Fan Cafe when it comes back, but you always run the risk of stuff like that happening to them. |

You can't access the forums? What does it say? And ya, I do plan on enforcing grammar. Also, I'm going to post the same thing here I did there.
I actually started this forum because I thought the other one was down. If I'd have known it was coming back, I wouldn't have done so. Nothing I can do now though... |

I'll gladly join this forum of yours, PantsGoblin. I do hope that Fan Café comes back, but I'll still hang out at your forum all the same.

I don't think JHV would mind. Each forum as their own charm so I don't think there would be a problem.

This sounds like an excellent idea to run an ANN-assoiciated forum which also contains an off-topic forum. Mabey now users won't have to worry about making off-topic threads that don't relate to anime, manga, or anything else Japanese (i.e. The Alvin and the Chipmunks live-action movie, Futurama and probably American music) while OT threads about anything that's Japanese are still allowed here. But I don't feel like registering there right now. I've registered in many sites but not too many. So I'll think about it.
You know, I too wll run a message board day for my future official site of a media studio I will own called I'm Gonna Knock That Guy Out (IGKTGO) which does medias with action/comedy and satirical themes and parodies. I'll also add rules similar to sites like this site, IGN, and even yours. Although while I'll prohibit spam and flaming and even postings of any form of pornography, I may allow cussing as long as you're not using any word in a sexual and scatological context or to insult a user because it counts as flaming. But I'll still prohibit racism, sexism, or any other form of anti-social or anti-cultural discrimination {see: this template from Wikipedia to see what I'm talking about). Also, it won't be phpBB like this one, it'll be powered by another site like probably Invision Power Board. I''ll edit this post to tell you about my future studio's official site later Last edited by Riyousha on Tue Jul 31, 2007 4:38 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Well I decided to join as well, although I'll still be a part of all three sites. It doesn't hurt joining multiple forum sites, right?

I just registered. I think it's a good idea to make use of it while waiting for JVH's forum, but your forum isn't bad either.

>_> Honestly, am I the only one who is aware that my forum is a paid one (yes, I paid money to create a domain to host the forum on) while JHV's is a free forum? One that anybody with little or no computer experience can easily create. It's not a very reliable forum either, you saw how it crashed only after a week or so. Honestly, I don't want to get into a rivalry with his forum, but God, can you guys stop comparing them? Especially when the forums are on two completely different levels? |

I can't wait for JVH's FC to return, but I'll partake in this forum as well. If those from FC remember, I'll be going by my usual "Ko-chan."
My club forum is lacking, so any forums that contain decent and active conversations work for me. Need some anime discussion! |

Honestly people, knock it off with the comparisons to Fan Cafe. Saying stuff to the extent of "Oh, that's a nice forum, but I'd rather wait for JHV's forum" is not only extremely rude, but offends me as well (considering I paid $80 for this, and JHV paid nothing for his).

Oh, no. That's not what I meant at all! I know you've paid ($80?!) to create another forum for fans to hang out and I really appreciate it. I was saying that my forum was getting nowhere and that the other one doesn't exist anymore, so it's good to know that we have somewhere new to go. |
