Going off some of the sci-fi and dystopians I know well, I can say Psycho-Pass, No. 6, Deadman Wonderland, and From the New World (Shin Sekai Yori) would be absolute hell.
Other series with easy "red flag protags" include: Loveless, EVA, Wolf's Rain, Spiral: The Bonds of Reasoning (Good. God.). This is a pretty fascinating mental exercise. We're not judging the series' world itself but the role it plays alongside the path of the protag. |

Deadman Wonderland is what I can think of in my current list of books to read.

Where the hell are
Puella Madoka Psycho Pass Elfen Lied Shadow Star Narutaru Bokurano Akage Gama Kill Berserk From the New World etc. Any of these make any of those shows outside of Titans a nice walk in the park. |

Oh, Nobita Nobi is definitely the main character. He's just not as merchandise-friendly as Doraemon. It's a lot like how you see way more Snoopy stuff than Charlie Brown. Something else to consider is that nearly all of Doraemon's gadgets, despite having phenomenal reality-bending powers, put Nobi in an even worse situation than he was in at the beginning of the story. He is the epitome of incompetence, and much of the humor derives from him being such a gigantic loser. |

At least in the Dragon Ball universe, if you die you're friends could wish you back to life. Also, the women don't die much. Who wouldn't mind being Bulma? She's rich, confident, has superpowered kids. Sure, she has to deal with Vegeta's mood swings, but otherwise she's got it pretty good.

I second School Days and Puella Magi Madoka's "witch world"! From The New World only sucks if you are a monster/morph rat or have faulty "power" control, otherwise god-like ability which sounds pretty good to me. If we stay with the concept of being the protagonist, Saki didn't make out too badly. For fun, how about Bludgeoning Angel's Sakura-kun?

#812 and blue:
Well, fans say there are certain tragic things happening behind the scenes of Doraemon, at least. |

I wonder why the poll makers chose some World Masterpiece Theater titles with this list but that's nice.

I don't want to be Ito Kaiji.(from Kaiji the ulimate gambler) Who would want a character who is living his life with a massive debts left by his co-worker and a way of making money through gambling will only lead you to even more debts or worse, your body-parts/life is on the line.
No thanks! |

That one surprised me. I suppose it is probably the one where they said a protagonist like that would be "under attack everyday." But come on, the benefits would be too good to pass up. Flying, super strength, super speed, being able to destroy a planet and make it look easy. I'm not seeing a huge down side to it. |

I was surprised to see Chibi Maruko-chan on here. I could understand not wanting to be her parents, but she doesn't know how good she's got it. The worst part would be that her show doesn't really progress, so anyone who became her would be stuck in elementary school forever.
BTW: WMT shows do get rerun every once in a while, and 3,000 Leagues in Search of Mother is pretty unforgettable. I would not want to be Amuro Rey from Mobile Suit Gundam and its sequels. Not only because of bad things happening, but also because he just never seemed very good at finding happiness. |

Depending on the exact meaning of "主人公", the male lead of Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan should be a candidate.
