FF VII needs a remake for the PS7. Man I'm so looking forward to that. See you guys in 15 years.

What, no Crash Bandicoot, no GTA, no God of War?

That answers the question, and explains the strong presence of (J)RPGs.

Was that even necessary? Of course it would be very skewed towards Japanese games. Just as doing the list in the EU would be reasonably different to doing it in the US.
Speaking of which I would be mightily interested in seeing how they surveyed these 10000 fans. The main responses are quite obviously severely skewed to the 40s demographic comparing the responses.
Sort of wondering how Boku no Natsuyasumi popped up in the teen demographic. Very different to all the other responses.

What a boring list. Playstation had way better RPG's than those.
Lunar Silver Star Story and Eternal Blue Complete
Breath Of Fire 3
Star Ocean 2nd Story
Parasite Eve
Xenogears
Legend Of Legaia
Wild Arms
Alundra
Phooey to this list.

#PlayStation2MasterRace
I really like Tales of the Abyss, Xenosaga series, Kingdom Hearts series, and Final Fantasy X. Even if they're old, they're still better in the term of gameplay and story. Sadly, the First-Person Shooter has overtaken RPGs as the supreme genre, no thanks to the online gamings.

i was a bit surprised that there wasn't more variety, but then again there is obviously a reason why those games can keep making sequel after sequel.

Katamari Damacy and We Love Katamari are still two of my all time favorite games. Shadow of the Colossus should be here too.
Also a little surprised to see FF10 do just as well as 7 (and better in some cases).

Out of SE's Sony releases Front Mission made more of an impact on me when it comes to their Sony offerings than Final Fantasy. The Front Mission series is still one of my favorite game franchises and unfortunately it's one of the few that no longer exist this generation. Armored Core is another reason why I like the Playstation and since Kadokawa currently owns FROM and if Kancolle Kai sells well, I may a crossover game with Armored Core and Kancolle which would be interesting in SRPG format.

I was pleased to hear on another site that Suikoden II was #17 on one of the lists for this (I believe it was the list of top games the women picked). as a Suikoden fan myself that made me happy to hear.

It's not like upgrading the FFX or even the FFVIII characters--
Amazing how most fans of the photorealistic FF's forget that the FFVII characters were essentially 3-D versions of the V and VI SNES sprites, and we played a game with the Minecraft People.
To do a high-def remake of that, you'd have to literally make the game from scratch, and Square just can't get that into fans' thick heads every time they ask.

...You know it, bro.
Still count me as one of the "fans in their 40's" (who remember the twentieth-anniversary days of iMac emulators and buying a PS2 to watch those new DVD things) who's glad to see Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King get a little love, but wish it could have come from his own demographic.
