Isn't that just an official fan video?

No. It's a recap of both movies, which are newly dubbed/5.1 (dubbed in the sense that the Original japanese actors rerecorded their lines).

I just wonder how much of an arm and a leg they are going to charge for this?

if it's anything like Japanese release, which i do have, it'll be over $120...

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=BCBA-2786&ref=myp

but Japanese version came with figurine...

don't know if US release will match the packaging...

i'm holding off buying Bandai Visual DVDs for Gunbuster 2 and Galaxy Angel Rune US release due to crappy pricing....

This sounds like a cash-in akin to Macross Plus the Movie, with the exception that the latter actually had some new footage.

It'll be cheaper than the JP release, that's for certian. It will, however, still be somewhat more expensive than your average R1 release, however the benefit of BV-USA's titles, since they started doing it this way, is that the disc quality (this is including video and authoring and such) is of a very high quality since the discs are actually pressed in Japan.

YMMV

I remember when I first saw a preview for this movie. Man was I disappointed when it ended up being a re-cap.

Another overpriced BV title I have no intention of wasting money on.

Considering both Gunbuster and Diebuster are Gainax titles that apparently take place in a similar continuity, I don't think it's an unreasonable thing to assume.

So yes, another mediocre, severely overpriced release of something I was interested in buying until Bandai Visual decided to sink their extortionist claws into it. Goody.

What's interesting is that they're also trying to bring over the Nono+Norika figure for the limited edition release over here, as well as working on a possible theatrical release, from what I could make out of the VP's announcement. Too bad that panel kind of turned into a Yamaga panel...

I don't know how a theatrical release would help... They'd be better off putting out prints of the Patlabor films and Honneamise.

The only possible way I would buy this is if the figures came with it otherwise it's as ValkyrieZeroZeroOne said "Another overpriced BV title I have no intention of wasting money on."

And there goes the last hope for an English dub of Gunbuster. Damn you, Bandai Visual!

They really should be releasing some cooler titles like Silent Moebius, Angel's Egg, or Mind Game.
