Hello im new to this forum and this is my first topic.

Im currently looking for some grown up mangas or anime. But i only know mangas like Oldboy, Ichi the killer and Strain. I would really like to discover some new mangas like the mentioned before. Grown up/mature comics with a good solid story, with violence, maybe romance/18+, and some kind of phsycological story aspect (thinking on the great plot of Oldboy) if you have any ideas please write the names and a short discription, thanks! (and no dragon ball, one piece fantasy things)
Very Happy

Since you know Ichi the Killer and things like that, manga series like Battle Royale, Hellsing, and Berserk should be no problem for you then. These are all mature titles, with adult themes, violence, and action in there. If you can read Japanese then the range will be wider, I can recommend you some Japanese titles that aren't even released here in the US yet.

Yes please, i am really looking for something without the fantasy elements like hellsing, like oldboy has the feeling of reality but it is still a manga. Do you follow?

if u like those types of things try death note, this is also a currently ongoing anime.

it has a slight fantasy part 2 it but it is kinda like a really smart cop against a really smart villain. u know the clever thinking and stuff. including death and mild gun scenes n stuff.

worth a read

Shokugyo Koroshiya aka Spider Sniper. This series stays on the line of reality, yet draws away from the elements that make Batle Royale and Ichi the Killer the manga on the level of seriousness that they are at. Another I would recommend is Higanjima, but if you're into vampire type stories then I guess you wouldn't read it then.

I don't understand what you mean by vampire stories? but thanks for the ideas. Do you know any good mangas who have been made into movies ( i know battle royale, ichi, oldboy)

What I mean by vampire stories is that there are vampires in the story like there are in Hellsing. Battle Royale was okay, it wasn't great. I think the same thing about Ichi the Killer.

Well there are 2 extremely mature manga titles that I still have yet to start reading myself. One is an all out actioner called Tenjo Tenge where there's basically a fight in almost every chapter. The other one is a pshycological, triller called Gantz. I've heard a lot of praise and critism from this one, but you can check out this forum to find out what people thought. Anime smile

If you dig Strain, I'd heartily recommend Crying Freeman and Santuary, both of which also feature art by Strain's Ryoichi Ikegami.

Crying Freeman (which Dark Horse recently started re-releasing...I believe Vol. 4 is out now) is the story of a peaceful artisan who is kidnapped by the Chinese mafia family and transformed into the perfect assassin. Sanctuary (also written by Strain's Sho "Buronson" Fumimura) is the story of two brothers who survived the killing fields of Cambodia and return to Japan to take over the country, one by taking control of the Japanese government, the other by taking control of the Japanese mafia. Both are very "adult" stories, full of rich characterization, brutal violence, and fanservice in equal measure (after all, Ryoichi Ikegami actually invented the word "fanservice"!), and Sanctuary even mixes in some lessons on geopolitics in with the action. Both come HIGHLY recommended.

Gantz indeed, my friend. That's some 100% adult stuff in there.

By the way don't forget Bleach, it has a lot of ACTION! And it is about the Soul Reapers, Samurai, and Hollows. Also Fushigi Yuugi: Genbu Kaiden , it is action, too, and the four dragons. They are awesome, I really recommended.

Neither of which are particularly mature.

Well I've just got all of the Sanctuary manga and it's pretty obvious how I got it in such a short amount of time without leaving my house Very Happy. Well I skimmed through some chapters and it seems to have really good artwork, better than I expected. So I need to finish all my current work, to leave me with plenty of free time to sit down and read it Anime smile
