I loved Oofuri and bought the DVD's and when i was selling all my anime DVD's it was in the "DO NOT SELL" pile with berserk, kino and honey&clover.

I suppose I'll look into it when it comes out, I'll probably read the reviews. But that show was really bad in that regard. |

I can't help to think that that's part of the reason the industry is trying to shove 'smart' devices down our throats. As they're to become obsolete so much more quickly. 
Ours is still a 32-inch SD(wide) CRT in our living room, well past its 10th birthday. For any high-def, we got the PCs. 
...Still, it might probably be a good idea to actually get a HD TV at some point and build a proper htpc for it. But right now can't really say it's a priority. Especially as none of us tend to watch the same stuff. I just hope there will be 'dumb' monitors still available down the line, or at least ones where the 'smarts' can be switched off. TV is not a device I will ever connect to a network of any kind, other than just as a dumb output to a htpc connected to one... |

There's one advantage to 4k that Justin clearly missed, and that 1080p tvs will go down in price once 4k floods the market. I agree that 4k is 3d all over again, but is likely here to stay. But I will need a new tv when I move to my new apartment, so 4k is good for me.

When FUNimation dubbed everything as a matter of course (i.e. before OniAi) there were definitely some titles they did so only out of habit or obligation - obvious package deals where they were presumably obligated to release a stinker in order to get a couple of top tier titles.
I think Mamotte Lollipop was one that looked wildly out of place in the company of the other titles released around that time for example. |

I have an HD TV and a PS3 and I still buy DVDs. I do realize there's a difference, but it isn't significant enough for me to want to want to pay the extra money for Blu-ray.

I puzzled over FUNimation's decision to release 26-episodes of Oh! Edo Rocket with dubs. When I watched it in fansubs, I thought was "too Japanese" to have a market in R1, so when it was released I wondered if it was part of some package deal with Madhouse or Universal. I hasten to add that it most certainly does not qualify as a "stinker." It remains one of my most favorite shows. |

Love the last Q&A, it made me feel warm and fuzzy all over! I got into anime in the early 2000s (as my join date can attest to) and saw the industry really boom and the bubble burst for a lot of companies, so it's nice to be reminded of all the good things going on right now
|
