So awesome, cannot wait for this! How can I finagle my way to Tokyo to see this before the Blurays come out??? Hmm, hmm...
And good to see a lot more songs from Shoko Nakagawa these days!

Looks like it'll be 90 minutes of them sitting around and 10 minutes of actually doing anything.

I'm looking forward to seeing how they improve on the already stellar visuals with a movie budget! Looking forward to the continuation of Marika's tale and a nice dose of Chiaki-chan!

That's exactly the impression I got based off the summary. Hopefully, we're wrong.

You mean like the majority of most "Anime: THE MOVIE" production?

Hopefully we're right. Bodacious Space Pirates is practically defined by how lightweight and danger-free it is. As a coming-of-age story, it seems like the very point of the show is to say "don't stress… work hard and you'll do fine." And yes, draining out the conflict is counter-intuitive, but I think it's what makes BSP work; if you want angst and lots of characters dying, there are plenty of other anime to choose from.

Then it may disappoint you to learn that they're not actually pirates -- they're privateers, which isn't the same thing. But I guess they do sometimes pretend to be pirates, so I suppose it's not a total loss...

The visuals of the series were no slouch, but that clip looked really sharp, even by comparison.
And I agree with invalidname. I thoroughly enjoyed the approach that the TV series took and so am eagerly anticipating this one. I will be a little surprised if it makes it Stateside officially before the end of the year, though.

A U.S. release in 2014 would be highly unlikely, since it won't even be out in Japan until around October.

Yeah, though hopefully the wait will be worth it.
So ready for this.
Agreed on the visuals Key.

Yes we put a lot of effort in the visuals of the movie. Everything has been redesigned, character design is more realistic and detailed, same as the background settings, cockpit interiors (which lacked details in the TV series), and spaceships.
I was in charge of redesigning a lot of backgrounds and completely redraw the bentenmaru color design and textures, as well as all the other spacechips (the old ones and new ones).
The schedule is short but we are making our best do achieve the best result. I hope that you will like it.
Thank you to show so much interest in Moretsu Pirates!
