Was the Elfen Lied manga any good?

I'd hate to read it and find out it had a bad ending (I kind of enjoyed the anime)

Yeah, cause all we know ARMS wouldn't show anything sleazy.

Now, "good" and "bad" have very subjective meanings here, don't they? Wink Well, the manga definitely has a rough start, mainly due to the art being sorta crap (far from the relative refinement of the anime), but I don't remember it taking too long for the quality to ramp up. I remember finding the manga ending to be "good," essentially, though it definitely ended quite a ways from where the anime concluded. (The anime's ending roughly corresponded with content from volume 6 of the 12-volume manga. And even then, there was content from those first 6 volumes that never made it to the anime.) Methinks it's a bit of a shame the ret of the manga hasn't, and probably never will, find an adaptation.

...Eh? I'm kinda confused on what point you're trying to make here. Elfen Lied was made by ARMS, perhaps one of their first technically-not-pornographic works. Are you just implying that Setsura1 might've not enjoyed Elfen Lied because ARMS was somehow playing it safe with it's adaptation? The only way I felt it might've been lacking for some as an adaptation of the not-perfect-anyway original manga was because it didn't follow the (then-not-yet-completed) manga close enough in some places.

---------

Anyway, I nearly forgot about this manga and how it'd be getting an adaptation. Will be looking forward to it (or at least I'll try to remember to. Those were exciting days, waiting for completed scanlations of the latter chapters of Elfen Lied).

What makes you say that? "They make boob shows and I don't like boob shows" doesn't mean they're bad at what they do; they're not GONZO who cannot craft together a workable story even though they put effort into it. I'd be more worried about the material they're adapting.

I'd watch it just for the name itself. Hopefully, it will defy expectations.
