Excellent. I'll have to tell all my friends in the Twin Cities about this so we can blab about Paprika together.

My wife just gave me the OK. I'll be catching this on Friday night!
I can't wait. I didn't think I'd ever get the chance to see this on the big screen.

Hopefully, they'll like it better than Princess Mononoke.

The Twin Cities. They were the original test market for Mononoke as to whether it would get a wide release or stay limited. Miramax bombarded the area with advertisements for it....TV, radio, newspaper, magazine...for like 2-3 weeks before hand. It was in a pretty high percentage of the theatres in the area......and it bombed horribly, which resulted in it getting a very limited theatrical release in the rest of the country.

Sad really, I was at one of the screening for Mononoke in Apple Valley and the theater was completely packed. I figured if that were any indication it would be a success.

Keonyn: By any chance was the dub different from what was eventually used?

I was also at the Mononoke screenings in Minneapolis, and the dub was the same Neil Gaiman-penned one. My theater was packed, too; I can't believe it bombed.
Just got back from this event--man, that was a great film! They announced that the movie would definitely be returning at least to the Twin Cities area in June, and I know that it's going to New York and LA, so maybe it really will be getting a wider release.

If it was packed, then methinks it was more of Harvey's tinkering that led to Mononoke "failing", because it was definitely one of the better-sellers on home video for 2000. If you don't know who he is, don't worry. He's paying for all the Asian films he hacked and buried by having Grindhouse bombing. Let's just say he has a way of rigging test-screenings to reflect his points of view.
