Just got back from a screening today... only 2 other people in the theater... Sad because it was really good!

Makes sense though because there's no advertising and it's only playing 1 time each day at 2:50pm... nobody's available at 2:50.

nam: You mean nobody's available for a 2:50 screening of Momo. Thor 2, on the other hand, is a different story. Wink

Sorry it's been a long time since I've been in school Wink

For a second I forgot that there are people who get to go home at 2:30. Those were the days...

It was playing during a small international film fest so it was literally just me and a bunch of senior citizens who were inside the building.

I'm baffled that the director of Jin-Roh took 7 years in making Momo. It's just not very good. I guess if it's intended for kids then it's alright, but I was really hoping for something more.

Yeah, it's a decent enough film throughout, but the third act just felt so overboard. Definitely zero emotional connection.

The third act is definitely the weakest spoiler[what with the random storm popping up the same time as the random deadly outbreak of the mom's illness]. But I still didn't like the first or second acts either. The 'guardians' are just cruel and selfish beings. Well, 2 of them are. The quiet one who draws and communes with nature is better. And I don't really get where they were going by having spoiler[the little girl also being able to see the guardians]. Did they honestly go somewhere with that? I can't remember. But yeah, emotional disconnect is one of the greatest problems in Momo. Which is a shame, because it had the pieces to make a moving story.

The one good thing I remember about the movie is that it was neat seeing that little electric cart climb up the steep hill and seeing how the farmers would still plant crops there. That was neat. And the artistry wasn't bad either overall.

Megiddo + walw: I dug it. It was more enjoyable than Poppy Hill and Wolf Children, anyway. Also, I imagine the reason Momo took as long as it did to be completed was because he's not the type to get a lot of gigs in general, since he's not a big name in Japan.
