Generation II Rock/Bug-type that has the highest non-Legendary Defense and Special Defense (They split up the Special stat after Generation I.) of any Pokemon.

This is the reason why you never put game-related questions on an assignment or a test. There is no guarantee that the teacher will know better than the students.

This was great. Thank you. Best response to any question I've heard all day. And I hope to see this picture on Buzzfeed soon, under one of those topics dedicated to "Best Test Answers".

One Question to that student....
What about an item called Ether? It replenishes the PPs Bulbasaur lost. In other words...You can still use Leaf Attack up to 40 times...If you're up against those that's 4x resist to this attack.
Also, that teacher didn't factor into the equation that the opponent may use the Evasion moves like Double Team.

"Schooled?" More like the kid was just trying to be a smartass. The question didn't say it was being used 40 times in a row or in a single battle. It just meant that, over time, if Razor Leaf is used 40 times, how many times can it be expected to miss?

Here would be my response to this student's answer.
"Correct...except I would feed my Bulbasaur Leppa Berries. Who says a Pokemon trainer can't go organic?"

Would give a little extra credit in naming a pokemon that wasn't in the first generation. Small pet peeve when you have over 700 pokes and many still only list/mention the first 151.

Actually Razor Leaf can have a base of 40 if a PP Max or 3 PP Ups are used on that move.

Pshaw, this is elementary school probability. Wait until he has to calculate the probability of breeding a Pokemon with x perfect IVs if the male has five perfect IVs, the female has two which both overlap with the male's, and one of them is holding a Destiny Knot.
Extra credit if the 1/32 chance of the non-inherited IV being perfect is accounted for.
