Will this be released in Japan? Most Japanese have an idea what Hello Kitty is, but the Simpsons aren't known outside of CC Lemon commercials, since Simpsons is only available on satellite TV. The movie was also treated as an "art film" and it didn't help that all of the voice actors got replaced by celebrities, bar Rev Lovejoy, who's voiced by Joji Nakata. Same thing happened to Spongebob, except it's very popular and gets fairly big ratings(for what it's worth)/merch sales.

Pretty intriguing when you consider that the Hello Kitty factory got demolished during a visit by the Simpsons to Japan.

These days, a better question to ask is what HASN'T crossed over with Hello Kitty! yet.
I mean, she's teamed up with KISS for christsake. |

In terms of who reached out to who first, I'd actually have to say it was (Fox) The Simpsons trying to get a deal with (Sanrio) HelloKitty. There's apparently going to be Simpsons themed Lego sets in 2014 too, which is another "curious" license deal considering The Lego Group rejected the brand messaging on Cuusoo (it's a website where fan-made Lego ideas can get 10k votes then be considered for an actual lego model by The Lego Group.) News of The Simpsons partnership with Lego has already been confirmed, but as an Adult Fan of Lego I'm still in shock, because there's no way Lego approached any license holders (had to be vice versa!).
Doesn't MegaBloks (knock-off brand) have a HelloKitty License? |

This is hilarious!!! It will only be a matter of time when FOX decides to take advantage of this collaboration and create an animated special. A collaboration with Shogakukan making Hello Kitty × Doraemon merchandise would have been better than this though.

Guess it's a matter of time - both franchises are known for collaborations. Heck, did ya guys see this month's Tree House of Horror XXIV opening collaboration with Guillermo del Toro?

I wish The Simpsons would just die already. It's not a respectable franchise anymore and hasn't been since season 6 ended.

Come on, it was still in its prime well into the eighth season, and still watchable until the 10th. The movie was good, too. But yeah, it needs to go. |

There's at least one thing The Simpsons won't no longer be doing:
'Simpsons' showrunner Al Jean to retire Marcia Wallace's character, Edna Krabappel |
